Okay, so I’ve been trying to figure out this whole “average swing speed on the PGA Tour” thing. I kept seeing these crazy numbers online and thought, “No way my swing is even close.” So, I decided to dig in and see what the deal was.

First, I grabbed my launch monitor – you know, one of those things that measures your club speed and ball flight. I headed out to the driving range, feeling pretty good about my swing that day.
I warmed up with some easy swings, just getting loose. Then, I started hitting drivers, trying to really let it rip. I hit about 20 balls, and the launch monitor spat out a bunch of numbers.
- My fastest swing? 105 mph. Not bad, I thought.
- My slowest? A measly 92 mph. Ouch.
- Most of my swings were somewhere in the high 90s.
So, my average swing speed? Turns out it was around 98 mph. Definitely not PGA Tour level, but hey, I’m not a pro!
The Reality Check
After gathering data of my own.I did a bit more research, and it turns out the average PGA Tour swing speed is somewhere around 113-115 mph. Those guys are swinging way faster than me. It’s actually kind of humbling.

But, you know what? It’s also motivating. It shows me how much room I have to improve. I’m thinking about working with a coach to see if I can add a few more mph to my swing. It’ll take some work, but I’m up for the challenge!
