Alright, so I’ve been digging into the Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners games lately, and man, there’s some interesting stuff going on with the player stats. I’m no expert, but I do enjoy keeping track of these things, and I thought I’d share what I’ve been doing.
First off, I started by looking at some recent games. I remember seeing something about a game on September 24, 2024, where Julio Rodriguez got an RBI single in the seventh inning. Oh, and Justin Turner had a sacrifice fly. It’s kind of cool to see how these individual plays add up. Those guys were really on fire that day!
Then, I got curious about the overall history between these two teams. Turns out, they’ve played a whopping 219 games against each other! That’s a lot of baseball. I mean, that’s a serious rivalry right there.
Next, I tried to get a handle on their recent performance, focusing on the last 10 games. So I started to make a simple table of information like this:
- TEAM
- DATE
- TM
- OPP
- RESULT
- AB
- R
- H
- 2B
- 3B
- HR
- RBI
- BB
- HBP
- SO
- SB
- CS
- PA
- TB
- XBH
- SH
- SF
- IBB
- GIDP
- AVG
- OBP
- SLG
- OPS
- 1
And you know, I heard that these teams had some big games between October 11 and 15, like 3 days ago. I managed to find some information about a game on October 11, 2022. It mentioned something about “Stathead” and an “Event Finder” to look up plays. Apparently, in that game, there was 1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, and 2 LOB (I guess that means runners left on base). And the Mariners were up by 1. Pretty neat, right? I thought that was a pretty close match.
So, yeah, that’s basically what I’ve been up to. Just trying to make sense of all these numbers and see what stories they tell. It’s a fun little hobby, and I’m learning a lot along the way. It’s like putting together a puzzle, one stat at a time. I still have a long way to go. I hope to organize all of this information in an orderly manner in the future. But I think I’ve got a pretty good start so far.
Hope you guys enjoyed this little rundown. Maybe it’ll inspire you to look into some sports stats yourself! It is kinda fun, you know.
