Okay, so I’ve been seeing these comparisons floating around lately – Anthony Edwards and Michael Jordan. At first, I was like, “C’mon, seriously?” But then I started digging in, and, well, it’s kinda interesting.

The Spark of an Idea
It all started with those highlight reels. I kept seeing these explosive dunks and fadeaway jumpers from Edwards, and there were flashes of MJ. It wasn’t just the moves, but the intensity, that “it” factor. I was curious and that became my Motivation.
Diving into the Stats and Film
So, I put on my amateur analyst hat. I decided to go compare them. I went to some free websites.
- First thing: I started pulling up stats. Rookie seasons, second seasons, you name it. Points, rebounds, assists – the whole shebang. I jotted them down in my trusty notebook, old-school style.
- Then came the film study. Thank goodness for YouTube, right? I spent hours watching old Jordan highlights, then flipping to Edwards’ games. I was looking for similarities, differences, anything that jumped out.
My Makeshift Comparison Process
It wasn’t exactly scientific. My “process” looked something like this:
- Watch a Jordan clip. Note the move, the footwork, the hang time.
- Try to find a similar play from Edwards. Sometimes it was easy, sometimes…not so much.
- Jot down my observations. Stuff like, “Edwards explodes to the rim like young MJ,” or “Jordan’s fadeaway is just on another level.”
I even tried to mimic some of the moves myself in my driveway. Let’s just say, I’m no NBA player. But it did give me a better appreciation for the athleticism involved. I failed so hard!
What I Discovered
Here’s the deal: Edwards has the potential. He’s got that fire, that drive to be great. You can see it in his eyes. He’s got amazing phisical talents.

But – and this is a big “but” – Jordan’s consistency and dominance were just insane. I mean, six championships? Edwards has a long way to go, but it’s fun to watch him try.
So, my little experiment didn’t “prove” anything. It just made me appreciate both players even more. It’s a fun comparison to think about, and it definitely keeps me watching Edwards’ career with a lot of interest.
