Alright, so Wuthering Waves version 1.2 finally rolled out. I’d been hearing the buzz about the new characters, Jinhsi and Changli, for a bit. Had some downtime this afternoon, finally got around to actually booting up the game to see what’s what.

First thing I did was jump straight into the character trials. Always gotta get a feel for them myself, you know? Can’t just rely on what everyone else is saying online. So, I loaded up Jinhsi’s trial. Spent a good chunk of time just running around, testing her basic attacks, checking out her skills. Tried to see how her combos flowed, what her energy felt like. She seemed pretty smooth, got that Spectro thing going on.
My First Look at Jinhsi
She’s got this presence, kinda regal. Her attacks felt quite fluid. I mashed buttons for a bit, then tried to be more deliberate, see how her kit actually worked together. It took me a few tries to really get the hang of her Forte circuit, that transformation thing she does. It’s definitely different. Spent maybe 15 minutes just on her trial, fighting the same mobs over and over.
Then Came Changli
After Jinhsi, I switched over to Changli’s trial. Totally different vibe. Fiery, aggressive. Fusion damage, I think? Lots of spinning attacks, big visual effects. She felt more straightforward, maybe? Less complex than Jinhsi at first glance, but definitely impactful. I ran through her trial too, getting a sense of her attack speed and skill cooldowns.
Here’s the thing though… deciding whether to pull is always the tough part. It reminds me of back when I used to collect physical stuff, like old records or something. You see something new and shiny, you want it. But shelf space, budget… same kinda deal here with the Astrite and the Tides. You gotta be smart about it.
- Checked my current Astrite stash. Not looking too bad, but not amazing either.
- Looked at my existing teams. Do I really need another Spectro DPS or a Fusion sub-DPS?
- Thought about future characters. Always gotta keep an eye on what might be coming next.
It’s funny, back in the day, working that dead-end job with crazy hours, I barely had time for games, let alone figuring out complex character pulls. Had this boss, absolute nightmare, always breathing down my neck. Left that place eventually, much better situation now, thankfully. Gives me more headspace to actually enjoy these things, think about team building instead of just stressing about the next deadline.

So, yeah, I spent a solid hour just messing with the trials, looking at their animations, reading their skill descriptions in the game menu. I didn’t pull the trigger yet. Gonna let it sit for a day or two. Maybe watch some gameplay videos, see how they actually perform in harder content once people really get their hands on them and build them out. For now, just got my initial impressions logged. They both seem cool, but resource management is king, right?
