Well, let me tell ya, this here fight between Aljamain Sterling and Kevin Dantzler, it’s somethin’ people’ve been talkin’ ‘bout, especially after that FURY Pro 8 event on December 30th, 2023. Now, I ain’t no big expert in all this fightin’ business, but I’ve been hearin’ a lotta chatter ‘bout how Sterling, that Funk Master fella, was up against Dantzler, a tough one from somewhere. Folks been sayin’ it was a good ol’ tussle, but the way it ended, well, I don’t know, some ain’t happy with how things went down.
See, from what I hear, the fight wasn’t a typical knock-out kinda match, no sir. It was a grapplin’ match, you know, where they grab and twist and try to pin each other to the ground. Now, this ain’t no easy thing to do, especially when you got two strong fellas like Sterling and Dantzler, both fightin’ for a win. The fight didn’t just go back and forth; it had its moments. Like, there was this one time Dantzler tried to get Sterling in an armbar, which is somethin’ they call a submission move. But Sterling, he wasn’t havin’ none of it. He picked up Dantzler and spun him around, throwin’ him down like he was nothin’. Now that’s a mighty impressive move, if you ask me!
However, even though Sterling was showin’ off his strength, Dantzler still came out on top by decision. This is where things got a little sour for Sterling. He didn’t understand how they scored the match. He said somethin’ like, “I don’t even know how they score that!” I reckon he didn’t agree with the judges, and from what I’ve been hearin’, a lotta people thought he had a good chance of winnin’, but it didn’t turn out that way. Ain’t that always the way?
It’s a tough world for these fighters. Ain’t nobody handin’ out wins for free, even if you’re a top fighter like Aljamain Sterling. This fight, it wasn’t no easy thing, but both men showed up and gave it their all. Even though Dantzler won, some folks still look at Sterling like he’s the one that shoulda had that win. Now, who’s to say, but in a world like this, where everyone’s watchin’, you can never tell just what’s gonna happen until the fight’s over.
Now, I been hearin’ other things ‘bout Sterling too. Not long ago, he was supposed to fight at UFC 307, but he got injured in sparrin’, which means he won’t be fightin’ that night. Ain’t that a shame? A big ol’ injury like that can mess up a whole fighter’s plans. But that’s the life of a fighter. You can train, you can fight, but sometimes, that body of yours don’t wanna cooperate. I reckon he’ll be back soon, though, as fighters like him don’t stay down long. I mean, this fella’s a tough one, no doubt about it.
One more thing, I heard he earned a pretty penny fightin’ Sean O’Malley back at UFC 292. They say he made $1,490,000 from that fight! Now that’s more money than I’ve seen in a lifetime. And to top it off, he was the highest earner of the night, takin’ home more than O’Malley himself! I reckon that’s a nice chunk of change, especially for a fella that’s workin’ hard, training and fightin’ like Sterling.
So, in the end, folks still talk about that FURY Pro 8 fight, and I reckon it’s gonna stay in people’s minds for a while. It wasn’t the end Sterling wanted, but it shows you how unpredictable this fightin’ world is. You just never know who’s gonna win, or how things are gonna turn out, even if you’re as good as Aljamain Sterling. I’m sure we’ll see more of him in the future, though, and I reckon his story ain’t finished yet.
