Alright, y’all, let’s jaw about this Alabama basketball, or whatever them young’uns call it, “Crimson Tide hoops.” I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I watch them fellas runnin’ around on that TV screen, and I reckon I can tell ya a thing or two.
Alabama Crimson Tide Basketball: What’s the Fuss About?
First off, they got this team, see? The Alabama Crimson Tide. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just a buncha boys throwin’ a ball in a basket, far as I can tell. They play in somethin’ called the 2024 season, and they got a schedule, just like them doctors and such. They play games, and then they got these scores, tellin’ you who won and who lost. And then there’s these stats, numbers and such, that I don’t pay no mind to, but the fellas on TV, they sure do like ’em.
I heard on the radio the other day, somethin’ about a Players Era Festival. Sounded like a big to-do. Seems like Alabama played against some team called Rutgers. Now, I don’t know where Rutgers is, but I bet it ain’t around here. Anyways, they played this game, and it went into somethin’ called overtime. That means they didn’t win in the regular time, I guess. They kept playin’ and playin’, and finally, this young fella, Derrion Reid, he went and shot some free throws. They won the game, 85-80, I think. Good for them, I say.
- Coleman Coliseum: That’s where they play, I hear. Big place, I bet.
- Jump shots: That’s when they jump and throw the ball, real high-like.
- Away games: That’s when they go playin’ somewhere else, not at home.
Then there’s this fella, Mark Sears. He’s a shooter, that one. They said he couldn’t miss the other night. Kept throwin’ them 3-pointers, they call ’em. He made five of ’em in a row, somethin’ like that. Folks were cheerin’ and hollerin’, musta been somethin’ to see. They said he hit a “DEEP 3”, must be a real long throw.
They also got these fellas they call Houston Mallette and Naas Cunningham, somethin’ like that. Seems they ain’t gonna play this year, they’re gonna do somethin’ called “redshirt”. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like somethin’ them city folk do. I heard they won their first game of the season against UNC A, whoever they are. Good start, I reckon.
Now, I don’t know all the ins and outs of this basketball stuff. But I know when them boys are playin’ good, and I know when they ain’t. And let me tell ya, this Alabama team, they seem to be playin’ pretty good this year. They got some good shooters, and they run around real fast. And that’s about all I know. You want more details, you go read them fancy websites and newspapers. Me? I’m just gonna sit here and watch them boys play. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll figure out what a “stat” is one of these days.
They got live scores on them TV things, and video highlights, too. So, if you miss the game, you can still see the good parts. And that’s good, ’cause sometimes I gotta go make supper or somethin’ and I miss half the game. But I always catch the end, see who won. And that’s the important part, ain’t it?
So, there you have it. My take on this Alabama basketball. It ain’t much, but it’s honest. And if you don’t like it, well, that’s just too bad. ‘Cause I ain’t changin’ for nobody. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go find that remote control. The game’s about to start, and I don’t wanna miss it. Go Crimson Tide!
And one last thing, they got somethin’ called Crimson Tide News. That’s where they tell you all about the team, what they’re doin’ and such. I don’t read it much, but some folks like it. So, if you’re one of them folks, go on and find yourself some of that Crimson Tide News. You’ll learn more than you ever wanted to know about them basketball boys.
