Okay, so today I decided to tackle the “*” clue from the NYT Crossword. I’ve been doing these crosswords on and off for a while, and sometimes a clue just jumps out at you, you know?

First, I grabbed my phone and opened the NYT Crossword app. I usually do these in the morning with coffee, but today, it was a lunchtime thing. I scrolled through the clues, looking for something easy to get me started, and that’s when I saw “*”.
My brain immediately started churning. “*”… what could it be? My first thought was something like “aspire” or “strive,” words that mean to reach for a goal. I tried typing those in, but neither fit. Darn.
I stared at the clue for a few more minutes, mulling over the possibilities. Could it be a trick clue? Something with a double meaning? I considered things like “loft,” thinking about golf or maybe architecture, but no dice.
Then, I decided to look at the crossing letters. Sometimes, having a few letters already filled in can help jog your memory. I had a couple of letters in place, and that’s when it hit me! “DREAMBIG”!
- It fit perfectly.
- It made sense with the clue.
- And honestly, it’s just good advice.
I entered it, and to make myself feel better, I finished the whole puzzle. It wasn’t my fastest time, but I got it done. And that “*” clue? It felt pretty good to crack that one.

That is my experience sharing today.
