Okay, so I was trying to solve this crossword puzzle, and one of the clues was “body of African warriors.” I was totally stumped. My first thought was to just start Googling random African tribes, but that seemed like it would take forever.
So, I decided to try a different approach. I started thinking about what I did know about African warriors.
- I knew some were famous for their shields and spears.
- I knew some tribes had really intricate battle formations.
- I knew some were known for their, like, super fierce reputation.
I figured there might be some common word, even if it wasn’t a tribe name. I looked at the crossword again, paying close attention to the number of letters and any letters I already had filled in from other * fit, seven letters !
I then typed the letters I knew into the online crossword solver, I entered “______” (the letters I didn’t know),and bang! There it was: “IMPIS“.
It worked!
It turned out, it wasn’t a tribe name at all, the answer is IMPIS. I’d actually seen that word used in one or two documentaries before, I just totally forgot at that moment. Feeling good!
