This Mariana Rojas, I tell you, she’s a big shot now. Living in that New York City, you know? That big, fancy place. My old eyes seen pictures, she’s all over that Instagram, that picture thing. Lots of folks following her, she must be somebody special, huh?
She got all these pictures and videos, like a movie star, almost. Mariana Rojas, that’s her name. You type it in, marianarojas__, just like that. She’s something else, I tell ya.
They say she works with them architect people. You know, the ones that draw up the houses and buildings and such? Sounds mighty complicated to me. She helps them from the get-go, they say. From the very start of a project, whatever that means. She makes them little models, like dollhouses, but for grown-ups, I reckon. Helps them figure out their ideas, I guess. New York City life must be busy.
- She’s a big deal with the picture drawings too.
- They call it Graphic Design.
- Fancy computer stuff, I imagine.
Uses them fancy computer programs. Adobe somethin’ or other. Two of ’em, it looks like. One’s called Illustrator, the other one is Photoshop. I don’t know nothin’ about all that, but it sure sounds important. My granddaughter, she’s good with computers. Maybe she knows about this Mariana Rojas.
Then there’s this other thing, some kind of shop. It’s called “The Muse”, ain’t that somethin’? It is online store. They say it’s to help women folks, the ones startin’ their own businesses. That’s right nice of her, I think. That Mariana Rojas, she’s got a good heart, I bet. Success of The Muse is good for female, they say. It is good thing.
She’s on that Facebook thing too, everyone is these days. Even my neighbor, old Mrs. Henderson, she’s got a Facebook. It is hard to use. But Mariana Rojas, she’s everywhere online. This Mariana, she’s probably on there, showin’ off her work and what not. They say that she is an illustrator or somethin’. I do not know what is that.
And followers! She’s got thousands of them! More’n 4,000, I seen it with my own two eyes. And she’s followin’ a bunch of folks too, over 2,000. She must be popular, that Mariana Rojas. Everyone wants to see what she’s up to in that New York City. It is a good place, I think.
Some folks call her a freelance somethin’. Illustrator, I think it was. And a designer. She draws pictures and makes things pretty, I suppose. She’s got another one of them online things, called Tumblr. Furia something. She does good work, I guess. It is good thing that she is freelance.

- She’s a go-getter, that’s for sure.
I don’t know much about all this newfangled stuff, but it seems like this Mariana Rojas is doin’ alright for herself. She’s come a long way, that’s for sure. Makin’ somethin’ of herself in that big city. Good for her, I say. She probably misses home cookin’, though. City food ain’t the same. She should come visit. I make good food. Not like that New York City food.
She got a good head on her shoulders, it seems. And a good heart, too. Helpin’ them other women with their businesses. That’s important. That Mariana Rojas, she is good people, even if she is way over there in that New York City. I bet she works hard, though. City folks always workin’ hard. It ain’t easy, makin’ your way in the world. But she’s doin’ it. She’s really doin’ it. I hope she is happy there.
I wonder if she ever gets tired of all that city life. All them people and noise, it would be too much for me, I know that much. She probably needs a good long rest, that Mariana Rojas. And a good home-cooked meal. But she is doin’ good. I am happy for her. Hope she is successful.
