Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here “Duke Oral Roberts baseball.” Don’t rightly know what all them fancy words mean, but I reckon it’s about them boys hittin’ balls and runnin’ around.
Duke University Baseball, that’s one team. Sounds like a fancy place, Duke. I heard they got some fellers playin’ ball over there. They keep track of all sorts of numbers, like how many times they hit the ball, how many runs they score, and how often they get other fellers out. They call ’em “stats” I think. Stuff like ERA, WHIP, W-L, all that jibber jabber. Don’t ask me what it means, but it seems important to them city folk.
Then there’s this Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles. Oral Roberts, now that’s a mouthful. They play baseball too, just like Duke. And wouldn’t you know it, they got their own “stats” too. Same kinda numbers, different fellers hittin’ and pitchin’. Seems like they play in somethin’ called the “Summit League.” Sounds high up, like they’re playin’ on top of a mountain or somethin’.
- They keep track of this stuff every year, they do. Season after season, writin’ down who did what.
- And them boys, they wear uniforms, you know, like special clothes for playin’. I reckon they change ’em up sometimes, new colors and such. That’s what they call “uniform history” I guess.
- And get this, some of these boys, they’re so good, they get picked to play for the big leagues! Major League Baseball, they call it. “Drafted,” that’s the word they used. Heard tell a whole bunch of boys from Oral Roberts got drafted, and some even made it to “The Show.” Imagine that!
Now, sometimes these two teams, Duke and Oral Roberts, they play against each other. They have these “games,” and folks keep score. Just like when we used to play town ball back in the day, only fancier, I reckon. I saw somethin’ about a game where Duke beat Oral Roberts, 6 to 2. Musta been a good game, though I don’t rightly know how it all works.
So, this “Duke Oral Roberts baseball,” it’s about these two teams, Duke and Oral Roberts, playin’ baseball. They keep track of all sorts of numbers, year after year. Some of the boys go on to play in the big leagues, and sometimes they play against each other. That’s about the gist of it, as far as I can tell. It’s a whole lot of fuss about hittin’ a ball and runnin’ around, but I guess it keeps them fellers busy and gives folks somethin’ to holler about.
Seems like Oral Roberts University baseball has a pretty good program. Heck, if they got boys goin’ to “The Show,” they must be doin’ somethin’ right. And that Duke team, they sound all high and mighty, but Oral Roberts gives ‘em a run for their money, seein’ as how they play each other sometimes. It ain’t always about how fancy your name is, sometimes it’s just about who can hit the ball harder and run faster, I reckon.
Oral Roberts University and Duke University, that’s what it is. Two colleges, playin’ baseball. They got their players, their stats, their history, and their games. And folks like to watch ’em and talk about ’em. That’s baseball for ya, near as I can figure. Simple as that.
I heard they even keep track of how good each player is at hittin’, pitchin’ and catchin’ the ball. They call it “batting statistics”,”pitching statistics” and “fielding statistics”. Sounds like a lot of work to me, but those city folk, they got nothin’ better to do, I guess.
So, if you hear someone talkin’ ‘bout “Duke Oral Roberts baseball”, now you know. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, just a bunch of college boys playin’ ball. Some win, some lose, but they all have a good time, I reckon. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it?
