Alright, let’s talk about this 3M Open thing, the one they had in 2024. Don’t know much about golf, but I heard folks yappin’ about it. Sounds like a big deal, all them fancy golfers hittin’ little balls with sticks.
So, this 3M Open 2024, it was at some place called TPC Twin Cities, in Blaine, somethin’ or other. Sounded far off. They said it was in Minnesota, a long way from my porch. Anyway, lots of golfers showed up, they said 156 of ’em, the best in the world they were. Guess they must be good if they say so.
Now, this fella Vegas, he won the whole shebang. Good for him, I say. They gave him a whole pile of money, more than a million dollars! Can you believe that? $1.458 million, they said. That’s enough to buy a whole lotta chickens and feed ‘em for a lifetime. Heck, it could buy the whole farm next door, I reckon. They said it was a bit more than what that Hodges fella got last year, only $1.404 million for him. Still a pile of money, though.
They kept talkin’ about the “leaderboard.” Said it was “crowded” with big names. I guess that means a lot of good golfers were playin’. One fella, Young, he was up there at the top at first. And Homa too, leadin’ somethin’ called the DP World Tour. Sounded important. All these names, I can’t keep track. They had a bunch of numbers next to their names, too. Guess that’s how they keep score in golf. Too complicated for me, I just count eggs.
The whole pot of money they were playin’ for was $8.1 million! That’s a lot of scratch. They said it was even more than last year, went up by $300,000. Seems like these golfers make a pretty penny just hittin’ balls around. Wish I coulda been there, not to watch the golf, mind you, but to collect some of them dropped dollars, hehe.

They kept talkin’ about the “live leaderboard,” and “real-time scoring”. Sounded fancy. Said you could follow your favorite players and see how they were doin’ on each hole. They had “scorecards” and “course statistics,” whatever those are. ESPN was showin’ it all, apparently. More numbers and letters to confuse me, I bet. They even had “hole-by-hole coverage,” so you could see every swing, I guess.
So, where could you find all this information? They said you could check the leaderboard online. On ESPN, and other places too, probably. They said you could see the final scores, the earnings, and where everyone finished. Must be a lot of writin’ to keep track of all that. I’d rather be countin’ my jars of beans.
Folks were really excited about this 3M Open golf leaderboard. They were followin’ it close, cheerin’ for their favorites, I reckon. Me? I was cheerin’ for the chickens to lay more eggs. That’s a leaderboard I understand.
They also said that at this PGA Tour in Blaine, Minnesota, you could find the current leaderboard. I don’t know what a PGA Tour is, sounds like a bunch of rich fellas travelin’ around hittin’ balls. But it must be a big deal, people were talking about it all over town.
And that’s about all I know ‘bout this here 3M Open. A bunch of golfers, a lotta money, and too many numbers for my old brain. But hey, if they’re happy hittin’ balls, and folks are happy watchin’ ‘em, then good for them, I say. Me? I’ll stick to my chickens and beans. They make more sense to me.
Final Scores and Earnings were a big thing, too. People wanted to know who won and how much money they got. They said you could find the full leaderboard to see where everyone finished. That’s a lot of names and numbers, I tell you. I’d be lost trying to figure it all out.
So, this 2024 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities, sounds like it was quite the event. They were playin’ for a purse of $8,300,000, even more than I said earlier, some folks say. I don’t know who to believe anymore, but one thing is for sure, that’s a whole lot of money.
And I heard tell that they are already lookin’ forward to the next one. More golf, more money, and more numbers to confuse me, I’m sure. But maybe I will buy some of them fancy golf shoes, the ones the golfers are wearing, I saw them at the market, my feet need them for comfort I suppose. That’s what happened at the 3M Open.
