Alright, let’s gab about these Final Fantasy pins, ya know? I ain’t no fancy gamer girl, but even I gotta say, some of these little doodads are right purdy.
First off, what in the tarnation is a “Final Fantasy” anyways? Sounds like somethin’ outta a dime store novel. But my grandkids, they’re all gaga over it. Anyways, these pins, they got all sorts of characters on ’em. I seen one with a fluffy lookin’ thing they call a “Moogle.” Looks like a bat with pom-poms, if ya ask me. Then there’s this goofy bird, a “Chocobo” they call it. Big yellow thing, looks like it could outrun a rooster on a hot day.
- Moogles and Chocobos: Like I said, these are the cute ones. Kids love ’em. They got ’em on all sorts of things, not just pins. Keychains, them little dangly things for your bags, even on hats!
- Tonberry and Cactuar: Now these are the oddballs. One looks like a green goblin with a lantern, kinda creepy if you ask me. The other one? A walking cactus! Who’d a thunk it? But the youngsters, they eat it up.
These pins, they ain’t just for show, mind you. People stick ’em on their backpacks, their jackets, even on their dang hats! It’s like showin’ off your team colors, ya know? Like wearin’ your favorite football team’s jersey, but smaller, and pin-ier.
Some of these pins are made of metal, some are like shiny plastic. The metal ones, they feel kinda fancy, ya know? Like somethin’ you’d find in your grandma’s jewelry box. The plastic ones, they’re lighter, but still colorful. They got all sorts of colors too. Bright yellows, blues, reds… makes my old eyes hurt just lookin’ at ’em sometimes. But the kids, they love the bright colors. Reminds me of a candy store, all them shiny wrappers and whatnot.
And get this, they even got pins for specific “jobs” in the game. I dunno what a “job” is in a video game, sounds like work to me, and who wants to think about work when you’re playin’ games? But they got pins for warriors, mages, healers… It’s like pickin’ your favorite player on a baseball team, I guess. You wear the pin of the job you like best, or the one you think is the coolest. My grandson always picks the warrior one and says it makes him stronger. I told him that’s a lot of hogwash.
Where do you even get these pins? Well, my grandkids, they get ’em online, or at them fancy game stores in the mall. I went with ’em once, that place was louder than a chicken coop at feeding time! But they had walls full of these pins, all shinin’ and sparklin’. You can even get special ones, limited edition they call ’em. Those are the expensive ones, the ones you gotta keep locked up in a safe, I reckon. Seems silly to me, payin’ a whole heap of money for a little pin, but what do I know? I still use a clothesline to dry my laundry, so who am I to judge?
Now, some folks, they collect these pins. Like stamps or coins, I guess. They got big ol’ boards they stick ’em on, organized by character or game or whatever. It’s a hobby, they say. Keeps ’em busy, I suppose. Better than sittin’ around watchin’ the grass grow, which is what I do mostly these days. But I do enjoy watchin’ those young’uns get excited about adding a new pin to their collection. Their eyes light up like a firefly on a summer night. It’s kinda sweet, ya know?
So, if you’re lookin’ for a gift for your kid or grandkid, and they’re into this “Final Fantasy” thing, a pin ain’t a bad idea. They’re small, they’re colorful, and they don’t cost an arm and a leg, unless you go for them fancy limited edition ones, of course. Just don’t ask me to explain what a “Cactuar” is, ’cause I ain’t got a clue. It’s a pokey plant that walks, far as I can tell.
And for those who are big fans, they say they carry “Final Fantasy” in their hearts, whatever that means. Sounds like a lot of hooey to me, but I guess it means they really like it, right? So if it makes them happy, that’s good enough for me, makes me happy to see them smilin’.
Anyways, that’s the long and short of it, far as I can tell. These Final Fantasy pins, they’re a thing, a big thing apparently. So if you see a kid walkin’ around with a little metal or plastic doodad on their backpack, chances are, it’s one of these. Don’t go askin’ them too many questions though, they’ll talk your ear off about “Moogles” and “Chocobos” and all that other nonsense. Just smile and nod, that’s what I do. Works every time.
