Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Phil Mickelson golf shirt, or whatever they call it. I ain’t no fancy golfer, ya know? I just watch them fellas on the TV sometimes when I ain’t busy with the chickens and such. But even I can see that these shirts, they look pretty good. Real nice, I tell ya.
Now, they say this fella Phil, he’s a big shot golfer. One of the best, they say. And I reckon he wouldn’t be wearin’ no trash, would he? So these shirts, they gotta be somethin’ special, right? I heard tell he’s got some kinda deal with this Callaway company. Makes his shirts, they do. And pays him a whole heap of money for it, too. Lordy, I can’t even imagine that much money! Forty-two million dollars a year they say? That’s more money than I seen in my whole life, I tell ya.
- Makes you wonder what’s so special about these shirts, huh?
- Is it the cloth? They say it’s got some kinda fancy stuff in it, like “polly-ester” and “span-dex.” Sounds like somethin’ you’d use to fix a tractor, not wear on your back!
- But I guess it makes the shirt comfy, they say. Good for playin’ golf in.
I ain’t never played no golf myself. Seems like a waste of good land to me. But I guess if you got the money, you can do what you want. And if you’re gonna be out there swingin’ sticks all day, you might as well be comfortable, right? That’s what they say these shirts are all about. Comfortable and flexible. And I guess that’s important if you’re tryin’ to hit that little white ball all over the place.
Now, I saw some folks talkin’ about what kinda clubs Phil uses, too. Callaway this and Ping that. Fancy names, I tell ya. But it ain’t the clubs that make the man, is it? It’s the skill. And I guess the same goes for the shirts. You can wear the fanciest shirt in the world, but it ain’t gonna make you play like Phil Mickelson. But hey, if you look good, maybe you feel good. And maybe that helps you play better. Who knows?
I tell you what though, these fellas, they got it made. Millions of dollars and fancy shirts. And all they gotta do is hit a little ball around. Makes a body think, don’t it? Maybe I shoulda taken up golf instead of raisin’ chickens. But then again, who’d feed them chickens, huh? Somebody’s gotta do it. And I guess I’m just fine with my overalls and my apron. Leave the fancy shirts to them golfers.
But if you’re lookin’ for a good golf shirt, I guess this Phil Mickelson one is a good bet. If it’s good enough for him, it’s probably good enough for anyone. Just don’t expect it to turn you into a golf champion overnight. That takes more than just a fancy shirt, I tell ya. It takes practice and skill and a whole lotta luck. And maybe a good pair of shoes, too. But that’s a whole ‘nother story.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about these golf shirts. They look nice, they’re comfy, and they’re made by some big company for a rich fella. If you got the money and you like golf, go ahead and get yourself one. But if you’re like me, and you’d rather spend your money on feed for the chickens, well, that’s just fine too. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with a good ol’ pair of overalls, I always say.
