Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here BMW Championship thing. I heard it’s a big deal, like, a real big deal for them golf folks. They say a whole bunch of people showed up, you know, like more folks than you see at the county fair.
Someone told me they call it “attendance,” sounds fancy, huh? They were countin’ heads, I guess. Said it might be more than 150,000 people! Can you imagine that? That’s like half the folks in my county, maybe more! All them people watchin’ fellas hit little white balls around a big ol’ field.
Now, they fixed up that golf course real good, they say. Made it tough on them golfers, even the real good ones. Guess they wanted to make sure it was a challenge, you know, not just some walk in the park. They call it “reshaping,” sounds like they moved a whole lotta dirt.
- They even sold out of tickets! Can you believe that? For Saturday and Sunday, no more tickets to be had.
- And they say the tickets were gone fast, like hotcakes at a church breakfast.
- Someone mentioned “grounds tickets,” I reckon that’s just to get in, you know, to stand around and watch.
And get this, kids get in free! Well, if they’re with a grown-up, of course. And them soldiers, the ones still servin’ and the ones who used to, they get a deal too, I think. That’s mighty nice of them, don’t you think? Shows they care about the folks who keep us safe.
They talk about records bein’ broken, all sorts of records. Sounds like this thing was bigger than ever before. More folks than they ever seen at one of these golf things. Guess that means it was a good one, right? Folks wouldn’t come back if it wasn’t worth their time.
Oh, and them golfers, they get paid real good money for playin’. I heard it was 20 million dollars! Can you imagine that much money? Why, you could buy a whole lotta cows with that! And they give it out to the top 50 golfers, but the top 10 get the most, naturally.
They say this whole thing was in Colorado. That’s a far piece from here, I tell ya. But I heard folks came from all over to watch. And they were talkin’ about bringin’ it back again, or maybe another one of them golf tournaments. Guess they liked it there in Colorado. And they got these young caddies, young folks carryin’ them golf bags, they do good things for them youngins too, help ‘em out, ya know?
And I saw somethin’ about someone winnin’, a fella named Keegan somethin’. They called him a “bubble boy,” whatever that means. Guess he wasn’t supposed to win, but he did. Good for him, I say. Shows you can do anything if you put your mind to it, even if you’re a “bubble boy.” This whole thing, it sounds like a big to-do, a real big to-do. Lots of folks, lots of money, and lots of golf. More than 126,000 people showed up one time, that’s what I heard. That’s a whole lotta people, no matter how you slice it.
So, that’s the gist of it, as far as I can tell. A big ol’ golf tournament, lots of folks, lots of excitement, and lots of money changin’ hands. And them tickets, they sold like hotcakes, especially on Saturday and Sunday. Now, I gotta get back to my chores, this city talk is makin’ my head spin.
