Alright, listen up, y’all. Let me tell ya ’bout this fight, the one with that Keyshawn fella. They said he won, but it wasn’t no knockout, see? It was one of them “technical decisions,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy, but I reckon it just means the other guy couldn’t keep goin’.
This Keyshawn, he’s a fighter, alright. They say he’s from ’round here, Norfolk, they call it. Folks ’round here get all excited ’bout him, sayin’ he’s gonna be the next big thing. Reminds me of that Pernell Whitaker fella, they used to talk about him the same way. Guess this Keyshawn wants to be just like him, they said he vowed it.
- Fight was in Norfolk, Virginia
- Keyshawn beat some fella named Lemos
- It wasn’t a knockout, they called it a “technical decision”
Now, this Lemos fella, he was supposed to be tough, they said. Had a bunch of wins, but I guess he wasn’t tough enough for Keyshawn. They fought at that Scope Arena place, lots of folks went to watch, I heard. They say Keyshawn was all over him, just overwhelmed him. Makes sense, seein’ as how they stopped the fight early.
They said somethin’ ’bout Keyshawn gettin’ a shot at a world title now. That’s a big deal, I reckon. Means he’s one of the best, or gonna be. He’s got a good record, they said, somethin’ like 12 wins and no losses. And he’s knocked out a bunch of them fellas, too. This Lemos fella, though, he didn’t get knocked out, they just stopped the fight. They said Keyshawn knocked him down three times though, that’s somethin’ ain’t it? Three times he hit the floor, poor fella.
This fight, it was on that ESPN+ thing, whatever that is. I don’t watch that fancy stuff, but my grandkids, they do. They told me all about it. Said Keyshawn was real good, real fast. They call him “The Businessman” for some reason. Guess he’s serious ’bout his fightin’, like it’s a business, not just some game.
Now, this Lemos fella, he messed up, see. He was supposed to weigh a certain amount, but he was too heavy. Way too heavy, they said. More than six pounds over! Can you believe that? He had to pay Keyshawn a bunch of money ’cause of it. Six figures, they said. That’s a lot of money, more than I’ll ever see in my life, that’s for sure. But even with all that extra weight, he still couldn’t beat Keyshawn. Shows ya, weight ain’t everything. You gotta have heart, and you gotta be skilled. And that Keyshawn, he’s got the skill.
So, Keyshawn won. He’s on his way up, they say. Gonna fight for a world title. That’s somethin’ special, a boy from ‘round here doin’ so good. Makes ya proud, even if ya don’t know him personally. He’s one of us, see? A Norfolk boy, makin’ a name for himself.
They said he fought him in his homecoming, that means he was fightin’ in his hometown. That’s gotta feel good, havin’ all your folks cheerin’ for ya. Must give ya extra strength or somethin’. Anyway, that’s the story, as best as I can tell it. Keyshawn won, Lemos lost, and now we got ourselves a contender for the world title. Good for him, I say. Good for him.
