Alright, let’s gab about this here 2023 PGA Championship, ya hear? It was a real barn burner, that’s for sure.
That fella Brooks Koepka, yeah, him, he went and won the whole shebang. Now, I ain’t no golf expert, mind you, but even I could see he was somethin’ special. He beat out them other fellas, Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland, by two strokes. Two! That ain’t nothin’ to sneeze at.
Folks were sayin’ this was Koepka’s third time winnin’ this here PGA Championship thingy. And get this, it was his fifth major win overall. Fifth! That boy’s been busy, I reckon. He did it all at Oak Hill, that fancy place up in New York state. Heard tell it’s a real purdy course, all green and whatnot.
- Koepka shot a 67 on the last day, see. That’s real good, I guess. Folks were cheerin’ and hollerin’, sounded like a bunch of chickens at feedin’ time.
- He was doin’ real well all weekend, scorin’ 66 on Saturday and Friday too, or somethin’ like that. Four under par, they said. Don’t rightly know what that means, but sounds fancy.
Now, them other fellas, Scheffler and Hovland, they tried their best, I’m sure. But Koepka, he was just too darn good. He held ‘em off, kept his head in the game, like my old mule, Bess, pullin’ the plow straight and true.
This whole golf championship thing, it’s a big deal, ya know? Lots of fancy folks watchin’, lots of money bein’ thrown around. I heard tell there was even some kinda sales goin’ on, discounts on golf stuff. Don’t know why you’d need a discount on a golf ball, but hey, to each their own.
Folks were talkin’ about Koepka bein’ 33 years old. That’s still a young’un in my book, but in the golf world, I guess that’s somethin’. He’s been doin’ this for a while, seems like. Knows his way around the green, that’s for sure.
The tournament was at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester. Heard it’s a real nice place, but I reckon it ain’t got nothin’ on my back forty. Still, them golfers seemed to like it alright. Plenty of space to swing them sticks and chase that little white ball around.
Koepka, he was the leader goin’ into Sunday, the last day. They call it the 54-hole leader, or somethin’ like that. Guess that means he was doin’ good for three days straight. That’s some consistency, right there. Reminds me of makin’ biscuits, gotta do it right every time, or they just don’t turn out.
So yeah, that’s the gist of it. Brooks Koepka won the 2023 PGA Championship. He played good, beat the other fellas, and took home the prize. Folks were happy, I reckon, especially them that bet on him. Me? I’m just happy to hear about it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
Anyways, that’s what I heard tell about this here golf thing. Sounded like a real humdinger, that Koepka fella, he’s a real go-getter, just like my prize-winning rooster, always comin’ out on top. Hope he enjoys his winnin’s, whatever they may be. Maybe he’ll buy himself a nice new pair of overalls, somethin’ sturdy and reliable, like him.
They said Koepka was real steady all weekend, not gettin’ too flustered or nothin’. That’s important, ya know, in life and in golf. Gotta keep your head on straight, even when things get tough. Just like plantin’ corn, gotta be patient and persistent, and eventually, you’ll get your reward.
And that’s all I got to say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go tend to my garden. Them tomatoes ain’t gonna water themselves, ya know.
