Alright, let’s yak about them Patrick Ewing Nike shoes, or whatever they’re called. I don’t know much about fancy sneakers, but I hear folks talkin’ ‘bout ‘em. My grandkids, they’re always on about these things.
So, this Patrick fella, he was a big shot basketball player, I guess. Back in the day, like, way back when your grandpa was still chasin’ chickens around the yard. They say he was one of them tall fellas, always under the basket, pushin’ and shovin’. You know, the kind that makes the whole court shake when they jump.
- He played for some team, maybe the Knicks? I ain’t too sure. But he was good, real good, they say.
- Folks say he was so good, he got his own shoes. Imagine that! A whole shoe just for one fella! Times sure have changed. Back in my day, we all wore the same ol’ boots, rain or shine.
Now, these shoes, they got all sorts of names and numbers. 33 Hi somethin’ or other. Sounds like a highway to me. But I reckon they’re special. They got all them colors, too. Red, blue, black, even some with crazy patterns. Lord, I don’t know why anyone would want shoes that look like a rainbow threw up on ‘em, but the young folks, they seem to like it.
I heard tell that this Patrick, he didn’t just get shoes from some company, oh no. He went and started his own dang shoe company! Can you believe that? A fella makin’ shoes! Well, I guess if you’re good at throwin’ a ball around, you can do anything. That’s what they tell ya, anyways.
They say these shoes were a big deal back then. Everyone wanted ‘em. Like them Air Jordan shoes, I guess. Another fella who got famous for jumpin’ and runnin’. Seems like a silly way to make a livin’, but what do I know? I spent my life milkin’ cows and hoein’ the garden.
Now, you can still find these Patrick Ewing shoes, even though that fella ain’t playin’ no more. They sell ‘em in stores, and online too, I hear. The grandkids, they’re always showin’ me pictures on their little computin’ machines. “Look, Grandma,” they say, “ain’t these shoes somethin’?” And I just nod and say, “Sure, honey, they’re… shoes.” What else am I gonna say? They all look the same to me, fancy or not.
But I guess these shoes, they mean somethin’ to folks. They remind ‘em of that Patrick fella, and all them basketball games he played. They remind ‘em of a time when things were different, maybe simpler. Or maybe they just like the way they look. Who am I to judge?
I tell ya, it’s a whole different world now. Shoes cost more than a good mule used to. And folks wear ‘em for fashion, not just for keepin’ their feet dry. But hey, that’s progress, I guess. Or at least, that’s what they tell me.
So, if you’re lookin’ for some fancy sneakers, maybe these Patrick Ewing shoes are for you. They got history, they got style, and they got that fella’s name on ‘em. Me? I’ll stick to my comfy ol’ slippers. They might not be fancy, but they get the job done.
And that’s all I got to say about them Patrick Ewing sneakers. They’re shoes. People wear ‘em. End of story.
