Alright, let’s gab a bit about this Ichiro Suzuki fella and his dog, you know, the baseball guy. Seems like he’s a big shot, lots of folks know him, even me, an old woman who don’t know much ’bout baseball. But dogs? Dogs I know.
Now, they say Ichiro and his wife, Yumico, they always liked dogs. Always had a soft spot for ’em. They had this first dog, EQ, they even showed his picture on that big screen at the baseball field. Imagine that! A dog on the big screen, must’ve been a good dog.
- First dog: EQ
- Current dog: Ikkyu (a Shiba Inu)
But the dog we’re talkin’ about now, that’s Ikkyu. He’s a Shiba Inu, you know, those kinda small, pointy-eared dogs. Look kinda like foxes, if you ask me. Seems Ichiro, he likes these Shibas. Folks say Ikkyu, he’s a real looker, real cute. I seen some videos online, and lemme tell ya, he’s a fluffy little fella alright. Makes me wanna go pet him, even though I ain’t supposed to be messing with them newfangled internet things.
Now, here’s a funny thing. This Ichiro, he didn’t wanna tell nobody Ikkyu’s name at first. Can you believe that? Kept it a secret, like it was some kinda treasure or somethin’. Maybe he was just being shy, or maybe he thought folks would make fun of the name, I don’t know. People are strange sometimes. But eventually, the dog’s name got out, it’s Ikkyu, plain and simple. Not a bad name for a dog, I’d say. Sounds kinda fancy, but still good.
This Ichiro fella, he’s real old now, fifty years old they say. Still workin’ with them baseball fellas though, teachin’ ‘em stuff. And I reckon Ikkyu is still around too, getting old along with him. Someone said Ichiro’s brother had to put down his old Shiba dog, and that made me think about Ikkyu. Hope he’s doin’ alright, that little dog. Nineteen years is a long time for a dog, hope they takin’ good care of him. Dogs deserve good care, you know.
They say Ikkyu even helped Ichiro decide to stay in Seattle. Imagine that! A dog tellin’ a man what to do. But I guess dogs can do that sometimes, you know? They look at you with those big eyes, and you just know what they want. Or maybe Ichiro was just jokin’, who knows. But it makes for a good story, don’t it?
Ichiro, he played a lotta baseball, got a lotta hits. More hits than anyone, they say. But to me, that ain’t as important as having a good dog by your side. A dog will love you no matter what, win or lose. And that’s worth more than all the baseball hits in the world, if you ask me. I ain’t no expert on baseball, but I sure am an expert on good dogs. Ikkyu must be one heck of a dog, to have a fella like Ichiro so smitten.
So that’s the story of Ichiro Suzuki and his dog, Ikkyu. Just a man and his dog, livin’ life. Nothin’ too fancy, just good, plain folks. And that’s the way it should be. Family, dogs, and good simple livin’, that’s what matters. Don’t need all that fancy stuff, just a good dog and a roof over your head.
