Well, let me tell you about this here golf thing, the PGA Tour Prize Cup, or whatever them fancy folks call it. I ain’t no golfer, mind you, but I hear tell about it on the TV when I’m dustin’ the furniture. It’s like a big to-do, with fellas hittin’ little balls all over the place and chasin’ after ’em.
Seems like they got this here crossword puzzle thing goin’ on too, about this same Cup. Now, I ain’t never done one of them crosswords. Too much thinkin’ for my old brain. But from what I gather, folks gotta figure out the words to fill in the little squares. And this “PGA Tour Prize Cup” thing is one of the clues, or somethin’ like that.
So, what is this Cup anyway? Well, near as I can figure, it’s some kinda prize they give out to the best golfer. Like, the fella who whacks the ball the best and gets it in the hole the quickest, I reckon. They play all these tournaments, travelin’ all over creation, just hittin’ golf balls. And at the end of it all, they give out this here Cup.
- They got all sorts of ways to get into these tournaments, too. Some fellas, they earn their way in by bein’ good at golfin’. Others, they get in ’cause they been around a long time and won a bunch of money. It’s kinda complicated, all these rules and regulations.
- And then there’s this “Q-School” thing. Sounds like these young fellas gotta go through all sorts of trials and tribulations just to get a chance to play on the big tour. Like, four stages of tests and whatnot. Must be tough, all that pressure.
- And there’s even an award for bein’ courageous, for folks who overcome somethin’ bad, like a sickness or an accident. They call it the “PGA Tour Courage Award.” Good for them, I say. Life ain’t always easy, you know.
Now, back to this crossword puzzle. People are lookin’ for the answer to “PGA Tour Prize Cup.” They say it’s been in the LA Times crossword, the Washington Post crossword, all them big city newspapers. And seems like there’s only one answer, one word that fits. I hear tell it’s “FEDEX.” Don’t ask me why they call it that. Maybe the folks who deliver the mail got somethin’ to do with it. Or maybe it’s just a fancy name they come up with.
But the main thing is, these golfers are playin’ for this here Cup, this “FEDEX” Cup, and folks are tryin’ to figure out the crossword puzzle clue. It’s a whole big thing, this golf business. More complicated than plantin’ corn, that’s for sure. But I guess it keeps folks entertained. Me, I’d rather be sittin’ on the porch, sippin’ sweet tea and watchin’ the birds.
So, there you have it. That’s about all I know about this PGA Tour Prize Cup and its crossword puzzle clue. It ain’t much, but it’s what I’ve pieced together from listenin’ to the TV and hearin’ folks talk. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got some gardenin’ to do.
