Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this Shohei fella and his wife. Folks been buzzin’ like bees ’round a honeypot, ya know? Shohei wife, shohei wife, that’s all ya hear these days.
Now, this Shohei, he’s a baseball player, a good one, they say. Hits the ball real far, throws it real fast. Makes a whole lotta money, I reckon. But he’s a quiet one, that Shohei. Keeps to himself mostly. Didn’t even tell nobody he got hitched ’til a while after it happened. Sneaky, like a fox in a henhouse, that one.
So, who’s this wife of his, huh? Well, they say her name is Mamiko Tanaka. Mamiko Tanaka, remember that name, folks. Sounds like a nice enough name, I guess. Not too fancy, not too plain. Just right, maybe.
Turns out, Mamiko, she used to play basketball. Yeah, basketball! Runnin’ and jumpin’ and throwin’ that ball in the hoop. She was good at it too, played for some team called the Fujitsu Red Wave. Never heard of ’em, but I ain’t heard of most things these days, so don’t go judgin’ me.
- She played for four years, they say.
- From 2019 to 2023.
- Then she quit, I guess. Maybe she got tired of all that runnin’. Or maybe she just wanted to settle down and raise a family. Who knows? Not me, that’s for sure.
Now, Shohei, he didn’t say much about how they met or nothin’. He’s like a clam, that fella. Clamped shut tight. But some folks reckon they met when Mamiko was playin’ ball at some fancy university. Waseda University, they called it. Sounds highfalutin’ to me.
And get this, Shohei, he got married way back in February, but he didn’t tell nobody ’til two weeks later! Can ya believe that? Two whole weeks! I tell ya, young folks these days, they do things different. Back in my day, you got married, everybody knew about it right quick. Word spread faster than wildfire in a dry field.
Shohei, he’s got a dog too, ya know. A cute little fella named Decoy. Saw a picture of him holdin’ that dog. Looked kinda sweet, actually. Maybe that dog helped him win over Mamiko, huh? Women like a man who’s good with animals, or so I’ve heard.
Now, before Mamiko, Shohei, he was single, they say. Had a girlfriend before, but that didn’t work out. Kamalani Dung, her name was. Funny name, Dung. But that’s neither here nor there. Point is, Shohei, he’s moved on. Found himself a wife, a basketball player turned…well, I don’t know what she’s doin’ now. Probably keepin’ house, cookin’ Shohei’s meals, and takin’ care of that dog.
Shohei, he comes from a big family, I heard. Got an older sister and an older brother. Yuka and Ryuta, their names are. Family is important, ya know? Especially when you’re famous and got all that money. Need folks you can trust around you.
And that’s about all I know ’bout Shohei and his wife. Not much, I admit. But I told ya what I heard, what I read in them papers and them internet things. It’s a whole different world these days, with them computers and cell phones and whatnots. Hard to keep up, I tell ya. But one thing’s for sure, Shohei wife, she’s a lucky woman. And Shohei, well, he’s a lucky fella too, I reckon. They got each other, and that’s all that matters, right?
So next time you hear someone talkin’ ’bout Shohei Ohtani and his wife, you’ll know a little somethin’ ’bout it. You’ll know her name, you’ll know she used to play basketball, and you’ll know they got a dog named Decoy. And that’s more than most folks know, I betcha.
Anyways, that’s the story as far as I heard it. Don’t go quotin’ me on it, ya hear? Just an old woman’s ramblings, that’s all.
