Alright, so listen up, y’all. I’m gonna tell ya ’bout that big football game, the 2012 BCS National Championship. Don’t go expectin’ no fancy talk from me, I’m just gonna tell it like it is, the way I saw it.
Now, this game, it was between them Alabama Crimson Tide and them LSU Tigers. Big teams, everyone said so. Folks was buzzin’ ’bout it for weeks, like a buncha bees ’round a honey pot. LSU, they was undefeated, not a single loss. Alabama, they only lost one game, so they was pretty darn good too.
They played this game in January, after all the other games were done. See, they gotta figure out who’s the best team in the whole country, and that’s what this game was for. They called it the BCS National Championship, somethin’ about bowls and championships, sounded mighty important. They even had a sponsor, Allstate, you know, the insurance folks? Guess they wanted their name on somethin’ big.
The game, well, it wasn’t what ya might call excitin’, not like some of them shootouts you see. It was a real defensive battle, a slugfest, like two ol’ bulls lockin’ horns. Nobody could score much. Alabama, they ended up winnin’, 21 to nothin’. Yep, you heard that right, 21-0. LSU, they couldn’t put no points on the board, not a single one. Must’ve been tough on them boys, all that way for nothin’.
That quarterback for Alabama, A.J. McCarron, he played pretty good. Led them boys down the field, made sure they didn’t mess up too much. And them kickers, Jeremy Shelley and Cade Foster, they done their part too, kickin’ the ball through them yellow posts. That’s how you get points, ya know.
- Alabama won, that’s the main thing.
- LSU lost, shut out and all.
- It was a defensive game, low scorin’.
- Folks was sayin’ it was a rematch, ’cause they played before, but this one was for all the marbles.
Now, they say Alabama won their 14th national championship with that win. That’s a whole lotta championships, more than most teams can even dream of. They was real proud, them Alabama folks, hootin’ and hollerin’ like they won the lottery. And that quarterback, McCarron, he got himself a lot of praise. Deserved it too, I reckon, leadin’ his team like that.
This game, it was a big deal. Lots of people watched it on TV, even me, and I don’t usually care much for football. But when it’s the championship game, well, you gotta pay attention, see who’s gonna be the best. And that year, it was Alabama, clear as day.
They played in a big stadium, I think it was called the Superdome, or somethin’ like that. Big place, filled with folks yellin’ and cheerin’. Must’ve been somethin’ to be there, all that energy, all that excitement. Even though the game wasn’t a high-scoring affair, it was still important, still a big deal. It decided the champion, and that’s what matters, right?
So that’s the story of that 2012 BCS National Championship game. Alabama won, LSU lost, and folks talked about it for a good long while after. A real defensive battle, that’s what it was. And Alabama, well, they went home happy, that’s for sure.
They talked about some kinda BCS system, how they picked the teams and all that. Sounded complicated to me, all them rankings and polls. But I guess it worked, got the two best teams playin’ each other. And that’s what folks wanted to see, the best of the best, battlin’ it out for the championship. And that year, Alabama was the best, no doubt about it.
So, there you have it. My take on that game. Not fancy, but it’s the truth, as best as I can remember it. Alabama folks were happy, LSU folks were sad, and the rest of us, well, we just moved on to the next thing. But for a little while there, that football game was all anyone talked about.
