Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about this here Rockies versus Phillies game, you know, the baseball. Don’t go gettin’ all fancy on me with big words, I’m just gonna tell it like it is.
So, the Phillies, they’re lookin’ pretty good this year. Got this fella, Bohm, hittin’ the ball real nice. Heard he’s battin’ over .300, which is somethin’, I guess. Means he hits the ball more often than not, that’s what my grandson told me. And that pitcher Sanchez, he’s alright too. Not the best, mind you, but he ain’t throwin’ softballs neither. Got an ERA of, what was it, 3 somethin’? That’s good, right? Means they don’t score too many runs off him, least that’s what I reckon.
Now, the Rockies, bless their hearts, they ain’t doin’ so hot. Losin’ games left and right, it seems. This Hudson fella, he’s pitchin’ for ’em, and well, he’s had a rough time. Losing record and an ERA that’s higher than a kite. My grandpappy used to say, “A high ERA is like a leaky bucket, you just can’t hold onto nothin’”. That ain’t good, no sirree. But they got this other fella, Diaz, he’s hittin’ good too. Almost as good as that Bohm fella on the Phillies. But one good hitter don’t make a whole team, you know?
So, who’s gonna win? Well, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? Them smart fellas over in Vegas, they like the Phillies. Sayin’ they got a better chance of winnin’. And I gotta say, I agree with ’em. Phillies got better pitchin’, better hittin’, overall just a better team. That don’t mean the Rockies can’t win, though. Baseball’s a funny game, anything can happen. But more times than not, the better team wins, that’s just the way it is.
Now, they’re talkin’ about runs, how many runs they gonna score. Some folks sayin’ it’ll be a high-scoring game, over 11 runs. Others sayin’ it’ll be low-scoring, under 10.5 runs. Me? I don’t know. Could go either way, dependin’ on how them pitchers are doin’, and if them fellas can hit the ball. But if I had to guess, I’d say it might be a bit high-scorin’. That ballpark they playin’ in, Coors Field, they say the ball flies farther there. So maybe more home runs, more runs overall, you get the picture?
- Phillies got good hitters like Bohm.
- Rockies ain’t pitchin’ so good.
- Vegas likes the Phillies.
- Coors Field might mean more runs.
So, here’s my prediction, not that it matters much. I think the Phillies gonna win. Maybe somethin’ like 6 to 5, or 5 to 4. Close game, but the Phillies pull it out in the end. And I’m leanin’ towards the over on the runs, thinkin’ they might score more than 10 or 11 runs between ’em. But like I said, baseball’s a funny game. Could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time, that’s for sure! You watch the game, you’ll see what I mean.
But at the end of the day, it’s just a game, right? Folks gettin’ paid a whole lotta money to hit a ball with a stick. Crazy world we live in, ain’t it? But hey, it’s entertainment, gives folks somethin’ to cheer about. And Lord knows, we all need a little somethin’ to cheer about these days. So, go on, watch the game, have a beer, and enjoy yourself. That’s what life’s all about, ain’t it? Findin’ a little bit of joy in the simple things.
And if the Rockies win, well, good for them. Underdogs need a win every now and then. Keeps things interestin’, that’s for darn sure. But don’t come cryin’ to me if they lose, I already told ya what I think.
