Alright, let’s talk about these football fellas, the “white corner backs,” they call ’em. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I watch a game or two when the chores are done. Heard tell there ain’t many of these white fellas playin’ this corner back spot. Seems like a big deal, so let’s see what all the fuss is about.
Now, they say this Kevin Kaes-something-or-other, a white fella, was the last one to start regular. Started a game way back when against Jacksonville, but they lost. After that, poof! Gone like smoke. Some folks say it was another fella, Jason Se-horn, played a bit longer, but he quit corner backin’ in 2002. That’s a long time ago, even for this old gal.
So, why ain’t there more white fellas at corner back? Beats me. Maybe they ain’t fast enough, maybe they ain’t tough enough, or maybe they just like doin’ other things. My grandson, he’s a big fella, but he ain’t quick on his feet. Prefers wrestlin’ hogs to runnin’ around.
But hold your horses! Things might be changin’. I heard on the radio, them fellas talkin’ sports, they said there might be three, yes THREE, white fellas playin’ corner back in 2024. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? History in the makin’, they say.
- One of ’em is this Riley Moss fella, plays for the Denver Broncos. Heard he’s a good one, tough as nails.
- Then there’s… well, I can’t rightly remember the other names. Too many names for this old brain. But they’re out there, tryin’ to make a name for themselves.
It’s like findin’ a four-leaf clover, these white corner backs. Rare as hen’s teeth, they used to say. But maybe, just maybe, they’re comin’ back. It ain’t gonna be easy, though. Them other fellas, they ain’t gonna just give up their spots. They’re gonna fight tooth and nail, just like my chickens fight over scraps.
I reckon it don’t matter much what color a fella is, long as he can play ball. But folks get all worked up about these things. They like to keep track, make lists, and argue ’til the cows come home. Me, I just wanna watch a good game. See some runnin’, some catchin’, and maybe a good tackle or two.
This corner back job, it seems important. They gotta be quick, gotta be smart, gotta be able to stick to them receivers like glue. It’s like tryin’ to catch a greased pig, I imagine. Slippery and fast.
So, let’s see what happens in 2024. Will these white fellas make it? Will they stick around? Or will they fade away like them others? I ain’t got a crystal ball, but I’ll be watchin’. Maybe I’ll even root for ’em, just ’cause they’re the underdogs. Everybody loves an underdog, right?
And if they do make it, well, good for them. They’ll be somethin’ special, that’s for sure. Rare birds, they’ll be. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll open the door for more white fellas to play corner back. Who knows? The world’s a funny place. Things change all the time. Just like the weather, you never know what you’re gonna get.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on these white corner backs. It ain’t much, but it’s honest. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens. They’re gettin’ mighty restless.
