Well now, let me tell ya ’bout that Josh McDaniels, that fella who was coachin’ the Las Vegas Raiders. You mighta heard of him, seen his name on the news or somethin’. He was with the Raiders for a bit, but they let him go. Now, let’s talk ’bout his money, ’cause that’s what folks care ’bout these days, ain’t it?
Now, back in January of 2022, that Josh McDaniels feller made a big ol’ deal with them Raiders folks. They signed him up for a six-year contract, and this deal was good, ya hear me? They was payin’ him around $10 million a year, which is a heap o’ money. Now, that ain’t chump change, no sir. At the time, McDaniels was gettin’ paid more than most other NFL coaches, sittin’ pretty with the likes of Andy Reid and John Harbaugh, both makin’ around $12 million a year. He was up there with Kyle Shanahan, who was also takin’ home a good chunk o’ change. So, all in all, he was doin’ alright for himself, I reckon.
But then somethin’ happened. Just a little over halfway into the 2023 season, them Raiders decided they didn’t want McDaniels no more. Fired him, just like that. Now, you might be thinkin’, “Well, shoot, that’s it for him.” But here’s the thing—he wasn’t just fired and sent on his way with nothin’. Nah, McDaniels still got some money comin’ to him.
You see, even though the Raiders let him go, they still gotta pay him for the rest of the year. And it gets better than that—oh yeah, they gotta keep payin’ him for the next few years too! He signed that big ol’ contract for six years, so even though he’s done coachin’ for them Raiders, they still owe him a ton of cash. Mark Davis, the Raiders’ owner, he’s got to fork over about $45 million to McDaniels for the remaining years on that contract, from 2024 all the way through 2027. That’s a lotta money, I tell ya, and Mark Davis ain’t too happy about it. But a deal’s a deal, right?
Now, you might wonder if McDaniels has found another job in the NFL after all this fuss. Well, as of right now, he ain’t landed nothin’. After gettin’ fired from the Raiders, he’s been lookin’ around, but he ain’t got no big offers, at least not yet. Some folks said he might get another chance, but as it stands, he’s still sittin’ on that $45 million the Raiders owe him.
What does this all mean? Well, for one, Josh McDaniels made a pretty good livin’ as a head coach, even if it didn’t work out for him with the Raiders. He was makin’ that $10 million a year, and now he’s still sittin’ pretty with that big ol’ payout from the Raiders. They mighta fired him, but they gotta pay up for the next few years. It’s like when you sell somethin’ to someone, but they still owe ya money. Ain’t nothin’ they can do about it!
So, if you’re wonderin’ how much McDaniels is gettin’ paid, well, it’s a whole lot more than most folks will see in a lifetime. Even though he ain’t coachin’ no more, that fella’s set for a good long while with that money comin’ in.
All this here shows that when it comes to NFL contracts, they sure ain’t short on money. Even if you lose your job, there’s still a lot of cash flowin’ in the other direction. So, McDaniels might not be coachin’ for the Raiders no more, but his bank account ain’t sufferin’ none.
