Alright, let’s talk about Tank Dell and Week 4. It was one of those weeks, you know?

So, heading into Week 4, I was looking at my fantasy lineup. Got some studs, sure, but also got those flex spots that make you wanna pull your hair out. Tank Dell was sitting there on my bench. He’d shown some flashes, little sparks here and there in the first few weeks. Nothing earth-shattering, but enough to make you think.
I spent probably too much time staring at the matchups. His Texans were playing the Steelers, I think? Not the easiest defense, right? My gut was kinda twisting. Do I stick with the guy I usually play, Mr. Reliable who gets me like 8-10 points? Or do I take a shot on this rookie kid?
My process went something like this:
- Checked Dell’s targets from the previous weeks. Saw they were kinda going up. That felt like a good sign.
- Looked at who else C.J. Stroud was throwing to. Dell seemed to be getting a decent piece of the pie.
- Thought about the upside. My regular guy wasn’t gonna win me the week. Dell? Maybe, just maybe, he could pop off.
In the end, I just said, “Screw it.” Threw caution to the wind, you know? Pulled my usual flex guy and slotted Tank Dell in there. Felt kinda risky, like gambling, but hey, that’s fantasy sometimes.
Game Day Jitters
Come Sunday, I tried not to check the scores too much early on. Made myself busy. But eventually, I peeked. And man, Dell started getting catches. Then a touchdown! I was actually kinda stunned. Didn’t expect that kind of performance against that D.

He ended up having a really solid game. Way better than the guy I benched, that’s for sure. Didn’t single-handedly win me the week, but he was a huge part of why I got the W. It felt pretty good, not gonna lie. Like finding a winning lottery ticket you almost threw away.
So, the practice here was really about trusting the little signs and sometimes taking that risk. It doesn’t always pay off, we all know that. Benched guys go off all the time. But Week 4 with Tank Dell? Yeah, that gamble worked out. Reminded me that sometimes you gotta look past the name or the matchup on paper and just go with what the usage trends are telling you, mixed with a little bit of gut feeling. It was a good lesson learned that week.
