Okay, so fantasy football season rolled around again, and I needed a solid team name. My main guy this year, the one I managed to snag, was CeeDee Lamb. Great player, right? So, naturally, I wanted my team name to revolve around him.

First thing I did was just jot down his name: CeeDee Lamb. Sounds simple, but sometimes just looking at it sparks ideas. I started thinking about the ‘Lamb’ part. Easy target, lots of possibilities there.
I grabbed a piece of paper, well, opened a notes app on my phone, actually. Started throwing stuff down.
- Silence of the Lambs? Nah, too dark maybe? Kinda funny though.
- Legion of Lamb? A bit generic maybe.
- Lamb Chop? Too simple? Or maybe classic?
Then I focused on the ‘CeeDee’ part. What rhymes with it? What does it sound like? CD? Easy peasy? Let’s see…
- CeeDeez Nuts? Classic juvenile humor, always gets a chuckle in my league. Had to put it on the list.
- Touchdown CeeDee? A bit bland, maybe.
- Burning CeeDee? Like a CD-R? Reaching a bit there.
Okay, so I had a few raw ideas. Then I tried combining his name with common football or fantasy phrases.
Mixing it up:

- CeeDee Scores, You Weep? A bit aggressive, but hey, it’s fantasy.
- My Lambo Runs on Touchdowns? Getting closer, incorporating the ‘Lamb’ again.
- Can’t Stop CeeDee? Simple, confident.
- The CeeDee Show? I kinda liked that one.
I spent probably a good 20 minutes just brainstorming like this. Some ideas were terrible, honestly. I wrote down “Baa Baa Black Sheep, Have You Any Points?” and immediately crossed it out. You gotta let the bad ideas flow to get to the good ones, you know?
After getting a decent list, maybe 10-15 names, I started filtering. Read them aloud. Which ones roll off the tongue? Which ones actually sound like a team name I’d be happy with all season? Which ones would annoy my leaguemates the most (in a fun way)?
I leaned towards the punnier names but also wanted something that sounded kinda cool. It’s a balancing act. I shortlisted about five or six really solid contenders that felt right for my team and my league’s vibe.
In the end, going through this little process, just sitting down and messing with wordplay around his name, got me a name I was happy with. Didn’t just pick the first thing that popped into my head. Took a bit of effort, but it’s more fun that way.
