Finding Something Clearer
Then I remembered the baseball buzz from just a couple years back. That was way more straightforward. I looked that up specifically. And yeah, found it – they won the College World Series in 2022. That one felt solid, you know? Like, they won the final tournament, end of story. No debate needed.
What I Took Away
So, my little dive into this wasn’t super complicated, but it showed me a couple of things. First, history, especially sports history from way back, can be messy. Who counts as the “national champion” wasn’t always clear-cut like it (mostly) is now. Ole Miss absolutely had powerhouse football teams back then, and they claim those titles proudly, which makes sense from their perspective.
But then you have something like the baseball title, which is undeniable, happened right in front of us, clear winner. It just showed me the difference between historical claims and modern, tournament-based championships.
