Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through my deep dive into… uh… figuring out who’s coaching baseball over at The Citadel. Yeah, The Citadel baseball coaches, that was the mission. Sounds simple, right? Well…

It all started ’cause my buddy, his kid’s showing some serious potential on the mound, and he’s thinking about colleges. He throws the name “The Citadel” at me, and I’m like, “Okay, cool… but who’s running the show?” I told him I’d do some digging, because why not?
First stop, the obvious: Google. I mean, “The Citadel baseball” gets you right to their athletics website. I clicked around, you know, found the baseball page. Then I’m scanning for a “Staff” or “Coaches” link. Bingo! There it was.
The website layout was pretty straightforward, which was a relief. I wasn’t expecting, like, a maze of menus. So, I’m looking at the head coach, assistants, maybe a pitching coach, strength and conditioning… the whole crew.
I started making notes. Names, titles, email addresses (if they were listed – sometimes you gotta dig deeper for those!). I wanted to get a feel for the coaching staff’s experience. How long they been at The Citadel? Where did they coach before? You know, build a picture.
This is where it got a little more involved. The website only gives you the basics. So, I started cross-referencing. LinkedIn is your friend, folks. I searched for the coaches on LinkedIn, seeing if I could get a better sense of their career paths, maybe some connections, endorsements – the kinda stuff that paints a fuller picture.

Some of the coaches were easy to find, others… not so much. Variations on names, outdated profiles, people who just aren’t on LinkedIn – it happens. For those, I tried other search engines, looking for news articles, interviews, anything that could give me more info.
I even went down a bit of a rabbit hole with some of the assistant coaches. I found one who’d played professionally for a few years – that’s always a good sign. Another had a background in sports psychology – that’s becoming more and more important in college athletics.
After a couple of hours of digging, I had a pretty solid rundown of the coaching staff. I put it all into a simple document, highlighting their experience, specialties, and anything that stood out. Basically, a cheat sheet for my buddy.
The big takeaway? Don’t just rely on the school’s website. It’s a starting point, but you gotta go deeper to really understand who’s shaping these athletes. LinkedIn, news articles, even just a simple Google search can turn up valuable insights.
And hey, if your kid’s serious about playing college ball, knowing the coaches is half the battle. Good luck to him!
