Well, if you’re lookin’ to know ’bout the 2017 Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster, I reckon I can tell ya a thing or two. Now, don’t expect me to be all fancy with the words, but I’ll give ya the lowdown, nice and simple.
So, the 2017 season wasn’t exactly a good one for the Buccaneers. They ended up with a record of 5 wins and 11 losses. Yep, that’s right, 5-11. They didn’t do too well in their division, the NFC South, and ended up in the 4th spot. You’d think they’d at least do a little better, but that’s the way the ball bounces sometimes, huh?
Quarterback position was a big one to watch that year. Jameis Winston, the fella throwin’ the ball, well, he had his ups and downs. He started out the season fine but then had a few injuries that got in his way. Still, he tried to hold the team together as best he could.
Now, the running backs weren’t too shabby. Doug Martin, he had some decent runs, but after a while, he kinda faded outta the spotlight. They also had a young fella, Peyton Barber, who showed some promise. But, y’know, in a season like that, it was hard to get any real momentum goin’.
When it came to the wide receivers, the team had a couple of good names. Mike Evans, well, he was the star there. A big fella, strong hands, and always makin’ those big catches. But even he couldn’t carry the whole team on his back, poor guy. The others, like DeSean Jackson, tried to step up, but it just wasn’t enough.
The defense, now that was a real struggle. They just couldn’t seem to stop the other teams from makin’ points. The defensive line had some good players, like Gerald McCoy, but the rest of the team couldn’t get things together, and they ended up leakin’ points all season long.
As for the special teams, well, they weren’t too bad. Their kicker, Patrick Murray, had his moments, but even he had some hiccups when it mattered most.
The coaching staff, led by Dirk Koetter, well, it just wasn’t their year. Lotsa changes, lotsa disappointments. Sometimes a coach can only do so much when the players aren’t clickin’.
Injuries hit the team hard that year, too. A lotta key players were hurt or had to sit out for a while. That’s never good for a team tryin’ to make a name for themselves in a tough league like the NFL.
All in all, 2017 was a season the Buccaneers would rather forget. But hey, that’s football for ya! You win some, you lose some. And sometimes, ya just gotta lick your wounds and try again next year, hopin’ that things turn around.
Now, if you’re wonderin’ who all was on that roster, well, it’s a big ol’ list. You got your offensive line, your defensive line, and all them fellas in between. A lotta names, a lotta numbers. But, at the end of the day, it’s all about whether they can make those plays and get those wins. And in 2017, it just wasn’t their year.
- Jameis Winston – Quarterback
- Doug Martin – Running Back
- Mike Evans – Wide Receiver
- Gerald McCoy – Defensive Tackle
- DeSean Jackson – Wide Receiver
- Patrick Murray – Kicker
Well, there you have it. That’s the rundown of the 2017 Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster, as far as I can tell. Ain’t much to be proud of, but maybe next year’ll be better. We’ll just have to wait and see.
