Man, what a weird day at Wrigley. I went to the Cubs-Blue Jays game on Saturday, all excited for some baseball, and then, boom, rain delay. Classic Chicago weather, right?

So, here’s how it went down. I got to the field, found my seat, and settled in for what I thought would be a great game. The atmosphere was electric, everyone was pumped. Then, a few innings in, the sky just opened up. It wasn’t just a drizzle; it was a full-on downpour.
The Waiting Game
- First, everyone scrambled for cover. People were huddled under the overhangs, trying to stay dry.
- Next, the grounds crew sprinted out and covered the field with the tarp. It was actually pretty impressive how fast they moved.
- Then, we waited. And waited. And waited some more. The jumbotron kept showing replays and, well, rain.
The Cubs announced that the game was in a rain delay because of the “inclement weather.” Yeah, no kidding! Eventually, they updated us to a 2:20 p.m. CT restart time. Made my day. It gave me the chance to explore the stadium and get my hand on some souvenir.
Finally, the rain stopped, the tarp came off, and the game resumed. It wasn’t the smooth, sunny game day I’d envisioned, but hey, that’s baseball, and that’s Chicago. All the wait paid off to watch the game with the exciting plays.
