Okay, so I saw this “mihoyo fusion reactor” thing popping up and, like, I had to try it. I mean, who wouldn’t want their own mini fusion reactor, right? Even if it’s just, you know, pretend.

First, I started digging around to see what other people were doing. I found some… interesting stuff, let me tell you. A lot of it was way over my head, with all sorts of complicated diagrams and stuff. I just wanted something simple, something I could actually build.
I decided to go the super low-tech route. No fancy electronics, no coding, just pure, unadulterated crafting. I grabbed some cardboard, some aluminum foil, and a bunch of those little LED tea lights. My thinking was, the foil would make it look all “sci-fi” and the tea lights would give it that glowy, reactor-y vibe.
The Build
- Step 1: The Core. I started by rolling up a cardboard tube. This was going to be the main part, the, uh, “containment chamber.” I made it about the size of a Pringles can, maybe a little bigger.
- Step 2: Foil Time! Then I wrapped the whole thing in aluminum foil. This was trickier than I thought. Getting it smooth and not all crinkly took some patience. I used a lot of tape.
- Step 3: Adding Details. I cut out some smaller cardboard circles and wrapped those in foil, too. These were supposed to be, like, access panels or something. I glued them onto the main tube.
- Step 4: Lights! I poked some holes in the cardboard tube and stuck the tea lights in. The idea was to have the light shining through.
- Step 5: Base. to it from tipping over.
It took a couple of hours, mostly because I kept messing up the foil. But, eventually, I had something that vaguely resembled a fusion reactor. At least, in my imagination, it did. I can say I have tried to build a “mihoyo fusion reactor”.
I turned off the lights, and… yeah, it looked pretty cool! The tea lights flickered, and the foil reflected the light in a way that kinda, sorta made it look like there was some serious energy stuff going on inside.
Obviously, it’s not a real fusion reactor. It’s not going to power my house or anything. But, hey, it was a fun little project. And it looks pretty cool on my shelf. Maybe I’ll add some more details later. Some wires, maybe some extra bits of cardboard. Who knows? The possibilities are endless!
