Okay, so yesterday I stumbled upon this “decide that one will” crossword clue. I’m not a huge crossword person, but sometimes I like to dabble, you know? And this one just stuck in my head.

First, I stared at it. Like, really stared. Blankly. Nothing. My brain was offering up zero help. So, I moved on to other clues, hoping something would click and magically give me the answer. Nope.
Then, I decided to get a little more systematic. I grabbed a piece of scrap paper and started jotting down potential words that fit the general idea of “decide.” I wrote things like:
- Choose
- Resolve
- Determine
- Settle
None of them seemed quite right, especially considering the number of letters I needed. I tried fitting them into the crossword grid in my mind, mentally adding “that one will” after each. It all sounded clunky.
The “Aha!” Moment
Finally, I thought, “What if it’s not one word? What if it’s a phrase?” And that’s when it hit me. I thought about how we sometimes say someone “will” do something when we are ordering that do it. Then my brain go to ‘rule’ and it also mean order. I quickly filled it into crossword. It works! That feeling of finally cracking the clue? So satisfying!
