Okay, so I’ve been hyped for Mortal Kombat 1, like everyone else. When I heard about the beta, I jumped at the chance to get in. Here’s how it all went down.
Getting Access
First things first, I needed to figure out how to even get into the beta. I pre-ordered to make it happen and keep it simple. It was pretty straightforward from that platform.
Downloading and Booting Up
Once I secured my spot, I went to the page and got the download started. it downloaded quickly. I fired it up, and boom – that classic Mortal Kombat logo. Gets me every time.
Character Selection Screen
Now, the good stuff. The character select screen popped up, and I had a limited roster to choose from, being a beta and all. Here’s who I remember seeing:
- Liu Kang: He’s, like, the main guy now, right? Had to try him out.
- Sub-Zero: A classic. Always gotta see what the ice man is up to.
- Kenshi: I’m always interested in the dude.
- Kitana: Another classic. Her fans are always deadly.
- Johnny Cage: the movie star, was there.
- Li Mei: the last one.
Gameplay Time
I spent most of my time messing around with Liu Kang and Sub-Zero. I figured I should stick with what I (sort of) know. I also used the Kameo Fighters, it was amazing!.
- Liu Kang: Felt really smooth. His fire powers were awesome, and he had some cool new moves I hadn’t seen before.
- Sub-Zero: Still freezing people solid. His ice clone move was back, which is always fun for messing with opponents.
- Kenshi: I found some cool moves for him.
- Kitana: She is much better.
- Johnny Cage: he is my favorite always.
- Li Mei: I really liked her.
Overall Impression
Even though it was just a beta, I had a blast. The graphics looked amazing, the fighting felt tight, and the characters I tried were a lot of fun. I also tried all the available Kameo Fighters.
This beta definitely got me even more excited for the full release. If the beta is anything to go by, Mortal Kombat 1 is shaping up to be something special. I can’t wait to see the full roster and dive into the story mode.
