Alright, folks, let’s dive into the fun stuff – coming up with a killer name for your Diamond Dynasty team in MLB The Show! I spent a good chunk of today messing around with this, and trust me, it’s more entertaining than grinding for stubs (sometimes).
Brainstorm Bonanza
First things first, I grabbed a pen and paper – yeah, I’m old school like that. I started by jotting down anything that came to mind. Baseball terms, puns, inside jokes, you name it. My list looked something like this:
- Swingin’ Dingers
- Nasty Knucklers
- Base Invaders
- (My City) Mavericks
- Cheesy Chippers
Honestly, some of these were terrible, I admit. I quickly realized my best name wouldn’t come up by simply creating the name. It needs a story!
Getting Specific
Next, I thought about what kind of vibe I wanted for my team. Was I going for intimidating? Funny? Something totally off-the-wall? I decided I wanted something a bit cheeky, with a hint of “we’re actually pretty good.” So i modified my previous list.
- Swingin’ Dingers (Keep it, it has story potential)
- (My City) Mavericks(Let’s keep it.)
So, I keep the Swingin’ Dingers, because I am really a fan of home run. So the word “Dingers” would be my key word. And I am living in Guang Zhou. So “Guang Zhou Mavericks” sounds good to me!
The Final Cut
After a bit more brainstorming and some serious self-critique, I finally landed on two names:
- Guang Zhou Mavericks
- Swingin’ Dingers
I think both names hit that sweet spot of being memorable, somewhat related to baseball, I chose Swingin’ Dingers eventually, cause there were too many teams using “City Name + Mavericks”! And imagining myself hitting dingers made me excited. And I did get a big win with lots of dingers!
So that’s my process, folks! It’s all about letting your creativity flow, not being afraid to come up with some truly awful ideas, and eventually, you’ll strike gold. Or, you know, at least a decent double.
