Okay, so today I wanted to try something totally random and kinda silly: making a “hamburger phone.” You know, like the one from that old movie, Juno? I thought it’d be a fun little project, and, well, it definitely was something.

Getting Started
First, I needed a hamburger. Obviously. I didn’t want to use a real one – that’d get messy fast – so I went with a fake burger I found at a craft store. It looked surprisingly realistic, which was a plus.
Next, I needed the phone part. I dug up an old, broken landline phone from the basement. This thing was ancient, probably from the ’90s. I figured it was perfect since I didn’t need it to actually work, just to look the part.
Taking Things Apart
I started by taking apart the phone. I unscrewed everything, ripped out the wires, and basically gutted it. I kept the handset, the base, and some of the internal plastic pieces that looked like they might be useful later.
Then came the burger. I carefully sliced it in half, like I was prepping it for a gourmet meal. I used a craft knife to hollow out the inside of both the top and bottom buns, making space for the phone parts.
Putting It All Together
This was the tricky part. I used a hot glue gun to attach the handset to the top bun. I had to hold it in place for a while to make sure it set properly. It looked a little goofy, but hey, that’s the point, right?

For the bottom bun, I glued some of the internal phone pieces inside to make it look more “techy.” I even glued some wires sticking out, just for extra effect. It’s all about the details, even if they’re totally nonsensical.
The Final Product
After a lot of glue, some awkward positioning, and a few burns from the glue gun (oops!), I had my hamburger phone! It’s definitely… unique. It looks like something you’d find in a prop closet, which is exactly what I was going for.
Did it work? Of course not. Was it fun to make? Absolutely. It was a silly little project that kept me entertained for an afternoon, and now I have a conversation starter sitting on my desk. I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece but it definitely is fun!
