Okay, so I’ve been playing around with different army compositions for Town Hall 9 in Clash of Clans, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey! I wanted to share what I’ve found works best for me, so here we go.

The Beginning – What Didn’t Work
At first, I was all over the place. I tried mass dragons, but that got expensive real fast, and sometimes those air defenses just wrecked me. I also dabbled with GoWiPe, but honestly, I wasn’t very good at it. My Pekkas always seemed to wander off and get themselves killed.
Finding My Groove – The LavaLoon Strategy
Then, I stumbled upon the LavaLoon strategy, and things started to click. It’s basically using Lava Hounds to tank for Balloons. Here’s how I set it up:
- Lava Hounds: Usually 2 or 3, depending on the base. These guys are your meat shields.
- Balloons: The bulk of your army, around 20-26. They do the heavy lifting damage-wise.
- Minions: A handful, maybe 5-10, for cleanup.
- Spells: Mostly Rage spells, maybe a Healing spell if I’m feeling cautious. I like to use rage near the air defence.
Deploy is more important,I will deploy the Lava Hounds first, making sure they target the Air Defenses,After the Air Defenses locked onto the Lava Hounds, I unleash the Balloons in a line, spreading them out so they don’t all get taken out by splash damage.
Drop the rage spell as balloons approach to defence.

The Experimentation Phase
Of course, I didn’t just magically become good at LavaLoon. I practiced, a lot. I watched replays of my attacks, figured out where I was going wrong, and adjusted my strategy. Sometimes I’d bring more Balloons, sometimes fewer. I experimented with different spell combinations.
What I Learned
Here’s the thing: there’s no one-size-fits-all army. What works for me might not work for you, and it definitely depends on the base you’re attacking. But here are some general tips I picked up:
- Scout the base carefully. Look for where the Air Defenses are, and plan your attack accordingly.
- Don’t bunch up your Balloons. Spread them out!
- Use your spells wisely. A well-placed Rage spell can make all the difference.
- Practice, practice, practice! Don’t get discouraged if you fail at first. Just keep trying, and you’ll get better.
So yeah, that’s my journey to finding a solid army for Town Hall 9. It’s all about experimenting and finding what works best for you. Good luck, and happy clashing!
