Okay, so I’ve been hyped for Honkai: Star Rail’s 2.2 update, and I figured I’d put together a little countdown timer. Nothing fancy, just something to keep track of the days, hours, and minutes until the update drops.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to know the exact release time. A quick search told me that version 2.2 is gonna be released on May 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM (UTC+8). Apparently, there’s gonna be a maintenance break starting at 6:00 AM (UTC+8) the same day, and it’s supposed to last for like 5 hours. Good to know, so I won’t be freaking out when the servers are down.
The Countdown Setup
I’m no coding wizard, so I just used a simple JavaScript snippet I found online. I just really like the way javascript works. I tweaked it a bit to fit my needs. It basically just calculates the difference between the release time and the current time, and then displays that difference in days, hours, minutes, and * basic stuff, really.
- I set the release date and time in the script.
- The script does the math to calculate the remaining time.
- It displays the countdown.
Preload!
I also found out that the preload for PC is gonna be around 16GB, and for mobile, it’s about 12GB. It means I can prepared for it before the launch, so I start to download it on my PC! That’s a pretty hefty download, so I’m glad I checked. I started preloading the game files as soon as they were available. Better to get that out of the way early, so I can jump right in when the update goes live.
All Set!
And that’s pretty much it! Now I’ve got my little countdown timer ticking away, and I’m all preloaded and ready to go. Just gotta wait for the maintenance to finish, and then it’s Penacony time! Plus, we’re getting 300 Stellar Jades as compensation for the maintenance. Sweet!
