Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and today I finally got around to comparing Cressy and Aliassime. I’ve been watching both of them play for a bit, and I wanted to see, like, how their games actually stack up when you put them head-to-head.

Getting Started
First thing I did was just pull up some recent match highlights. I figured that would be a good way to refresh my memory on their playing styles. You know, get a feel for how they move, their serve, their groundstrokes – all that good stuff.
Digging into the Details
After watching some clips, I started jotting down some notes. I basically created two columns, one for Cressy and one for Aliassime. I wanted to compare some specific things:
- Serve: How powerful is it? How accurate? Do they mix it up much?
- Return of Serve: Are they aggressive? Do they block it back? How do they handle big serves?
- Groundstrokes: Forehand vs. backhand – which is stronger? Do they hit with a lot of topspin, or keep it flat?
- Net Play: Do they come to the net often? Are they comfortable volleying?
- Movement: How quick are they around the court? Do they cover the court well?
- Mentality: Do they get frustrated easily? Do they seem to fight for every point?
I went back and forth between the videos, pausing and rewinding, trying to really analyze each point. I tried to be as objective as possible. It’s easy to get caught up in who you like more, but I wanted to focus on the actual gameplay.
Putting it All Together
After I felt like I had a good handle on each player, I started looking for patterns. For example, I noticed Cressy relies heavily on his serve and volley game. He’s always looking to get to the net. Aliassime, on the other hand, seems more comfortable playing from the baseline, using his powerful groundstrokes to dictate play. And there are something different, like Aliassime is more stronger at return of serve.
It was actually pretty interesting to see the contrast in their styles. It makes you think about how different approaches can be successful in tennis.

So yeah, that’s pretty much what I did. It was a fun little exercise, and it definitely gave me a better appreciation for both players.
