Well, well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this pitcher fella, Walker Buehler. Now, he’s been around the block a few times, ya know, playin’ for them Dodgers and all, but he ain’t never really locked down a long-term deal with ‘em. Every year, it’s been one of them short contracts. Last few years, he’s been gettin’ about $8.05 million a year. That’s a lotta money, don’t get me wrong, but I reckon he’s lookin’ for more now, after all them years of pitchin’ his heart out. I’m sure he’d like somethin’ more stable, something that’d keep him with the Dodgers for a long time, but looks like they ain’t too eager to give him what he wants.
Ya see, Walker’s had some rough patches, especially with that surgery business. Had to go through the ol’ Tommy John twice now, bless his heart. That can’t be easy on a body, especially when you’re throwin’ that fastball all day long. But still, even with them surgeries, the Dodgers keep givin’ him a chance. They’re hopin’ he’ll bounce back and help ‘em win big. Just like he did in the 2024 World Series, where he pitched a shutout in Game 3. That’s somethin’ to be proud of for sure, ain’t it?
But here’s the thing: Walker Buehler, he’s set to hit free agency after this 2024 season. That means he could be shoppin’ around for a better deal, maybe somewhere that’s willin’ to pay him more, maybe for a longer stretch of years. I hear tell he’s gonna be makin’ around $8.2 million for the 2024 season. Not bad, but if he’s thinkin’ long-term, he might want a contract that’s a little more solid, ya know? He’s already earned over $30 million in his career, and I reckon he’s lookin’ for somethin’ to secure his future even more.
Now, them Dodgers, they seem to like Walker, but it looks like they’re draggin’ their feet when it comes to offerin’ him a long-term deal. He’s had some great moments, but they ain’t quite pulled the trigger yet. If they’re not ready to give him the money he’s askin’ for, well, he might just take his arm somewhere else. Ain’t nobody gonna blame him for that, you know? He’s worked hard, and he deserves to be treated right.
It’s a tough business, this baseball game. Them contracts are like a game of poker—sometimes you gotta bet big if you want a chance to win big. Buehler’s bettin’ on himself, and I can’t say I blame him. If the Dodgers don’t wanna meet his demands, he might just be off to find a team that will. That’s the way it works in the big leagues. Ain’t no loyalty if the money ain’t right.
We’ll see how this all plays out, but one thing’s for sure: Buehler’s gonna keep pitchin’, whether it’s for the Dodgers or someone else. He’s got the talent, and that ain’t goin’ anywhere. But if you ask me, I’d say he’s lookin’ for a deal that’ll keep him set for the future, and he’s got every right to ask for it. Them big league teams have money to spare, and if they want a pitcher like Walker, they better be ready to pay up!
As for the Dodgers, I’d say they better start thinkin’ about whether they want to keep him around or let him go. Buehler’s been good to ‘em, and it’d be a shame if they let him slip away over money. But, we all know, money talks, don’t it?
