Alright, so I was messing around with some friends, and we decided to start a fun little beach volleyball tournament. Naturally, we needed team names. And since we’re all huge fans of that beautiful Puka Nacua, we figured, why not theme the names around him?
First, I brainstormed a bit. Just free-associating, you know? I jotted down anything that came to mind related to Puka, his style, or even just random words that sounded cool.

- Nacua’s Net Ninjas
- The Puka Punch
- Beach Bums (okay, that one’s generic, but it was a start!)
- Wavy plays
The Refinement Stage
After the first five,I showed the list to my friends. Got some laughs, got some “meh” reactions. We tossed ideas back and forth. One friend suggested something with “tide,” playing off the beach theme. Another one wanted something that sounded a little more… intimidating.
Polishing the list
We mixed and matched, combining some of the original ideas with the new suggestions. And that got the new list.
