Okay, so I bumped into this “Francis Danis” thing today, and I figured I’d give it a shot and see what it’s all about. I’m always up for trying new stuff, you know?

First, I started by just poking around online, trying to get a feel for what this Francis Danis even is. I read some articles, watched a couple of videos – the usual deal. It seemed like some kind of… artistic style? Or maybe a technique? It was a bit vague, to be honest.
Getting My Hands Dirty
After I got a basic idea, I decided to just jump in. I grabbed some paper and some charcoal pencils – figured I’d keep it simple to start. I tried to copy some of the examples I’d seen online, just to get a feel for the shapes and shading. It was… messy. Let’s just say that.
- My first attempt looked like a toddler’s scribble. Seriously.
- The second one was a little better, but still way off.
- I started to get frustrated, but I kept going. I’m stubborn like that.
Figuring Stuff Out (Sort Of)
I realized I needed to slow down and really look at what I was doing. I started paying more attention to the way the lines flowed, the way the light and shadow played together. I took some deep breaths and tried to be more deliberate with my strokes.
It still wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. But I started to see some improvement. The shapes became a little more defined, the shading a little less muddy. It was still rough, but it felt like I was making progress.
The “Aha!” Moment (Maybe?)
I wouldn’t say I had a full-blown “aha!” moment, but I definitely started to understand what the fuss was about. It’s about letting go of control a little bit, letting the lines and shapes flow naturally. It’s about embracing the imperfections, the messiness. I am not sure, maybe?

I kept practicing for a while longer, just experimenting with different strokes and pressures. I even tried using some colored pencils, just to see what would happen. It was fun, even if it wasn’t exactly pretty.
So, yeah, that was my day with Francis Danis. I learned something, I made some messes, and I had a bit of fun. I’m still not sure I totally “get” it, but I’m definitely going to keep playing around with it. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get good at it * I’ll give it another shot tomorrow. We’ll see.
