Okay, so I’ve been digging into what clubs Dustin Johnson is using, you know, just for kicks. I mean, the guy’s a beast on the course, and I was curious to see what’s in his bag. Figured I’d share my little investigation with you all.
First off, I started by just hitting up the usual spots online, trying to piece together what he’s been using lately. It’s kind of a pain since these guys switch things up, you know? But, I managed to find some pretty reliable info after a bit of hunting.
So, here’s what I gathered:
Driver
It looks like DJ’s been rocking a TaylorMade SIM a good bit. I’ve messed around with one of those before, and it’s a solid driver, no doubt. Feels good, sounds good, you know, the whole deal.
Fairway Woods
Seems like he’s got a TaylorMade SIM Max 3-wood and a SIM Max 5-wood. The SIM Max stuff is hot right now and he has used them for a while. I’ve heard good things about them from some buddies who play them.
Irons
For the irons, I found that he’s usually playing with a set of TaylorMade P730s. Those are some sweet-looking blades. I’m not good enough to game those, but they look awesome. He also sometimes carries a TaylorMade P790 3-iron which is a little more forgiving.
Wedges
This is where it gets a little trickier. He’s got TaylorMade Milled Grind wedges in there, but the lofts change from time to time. From what I could find, he usually has around a 52-degree and a 60-degree wedge, sometimes a 64-degree as well.
Putter
Now, the putter. He is known to change putters more often than some change their socks. He has used various TaylorMade Spider models over the years. Right now he is gaming a TaylorMade Truss blade putter and it is definitely not one of those cheap ones. He also used a Scotty Cameron from time to time but it looks like he has settled on the Truss.
Ball
He’s a TaylorMade guy through and through, so no surprise, he plays the TaylorMade TP5x ball. That’s a popular one. I tried it once. It’s a good ball.
Grip
It appears that he is using the Golf Pride Z Grip Cord. He also has used the Lamkin Crossline Cord as well. I personally love the feel of corded grips, so it looks like I have something in common with Dustin Johnson.
Summarizing:
- Driver: TaylorMade SIM
- Fairway Woods: TaylorMade SIM Max 3-wood, SIM Max 5-wood
- Irons: TaylorMade P730 (4-PW), sometimes a TaylorMade P790 3-iron
- Wedges: TaylorMade Milled Grind, around 52 and 60 degrees, sometimes 64
- Putter: TaylorMade Truss blade putter, sometimes a Scotty Cameron
- Ball: TaylorMade TP5x
- Grip: Golf Pride Z Grip Cord or Lamkin Crossline Cord
So there you have it. That’s what I could piece together about what Dustin Johnson’s got in his bag. It was a fun little project. Makes you think about your own setup, right? Maybe I need a new driver… or putter… or wedges… Haha, just kidding (maybe). Anyways, hope you found this interesting!
One last thing, this guy is 40 years old, right-handed, and from the United States, as if you didn’t know. It is wild how long he has been playing and how good he still is.
Keep swinging!
