Okay, so I was messing around online today and stumbled upon this thing called a “baseball guessing game grid”. Sounds kinda nerdy, right? But I love baseball, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
First, I had to find the game. I just typed “baseball guessing game grid” into the search bar and a bunch of stuff popped up. I clicked on one of the top results, and it took me to this website with a big 3×3 grid.
So, how does this thing work? Well, it looks like there are team names or some other hints along the top and side of the grid. You have to guess a player that fits both categories for each box. Makes sense, I guess. There’s also this thing called a “rarity score.” I’m not totally sure what it means, but it seems like the less common your answer, the better you score.
I started filling in some boxes. Some were easy, like a player who played for both the Yankees and the Red Sox. I typed in “Babe Ruth.” Boom, it worked! There was also a spot for a player who had over 3,000 hits and played for the Dodgers. I put in “Pete Rose” since he has the most hits. That one worked too.
But then it got tougher. I spent a good chunk of time on this one box. I won’t lie, I had to do a bit of searching for some of these. But that’s part of the fun, I guess, learning something new.
- First, I tried to use my own memory. Like, I tried to think of players who matched the clues on the grid.
- Then, when I got stuck, I started using search engines. I’d type in things like “MLB players who played for the Mets and the Cardinals” to get some ideas.
- I also looked at the hints on the website. Sometimes they were pretty obvious, other times, not so much.
Eventually, I managed to fill in all nine squares. I felt pretty good about myself! My rarity score wasn’t amazing, but it was decent enough. I ended up just wasting a little time playing this grid thing.

Honestly, it was way more fun than I expected. It’s a good way to test your baseball knowledge, and you might even learn a thing or two along the way. I’m definitely gonna play it again tomorrow. There is a new grid every day according to the website.
I suggest that you guys should try it too!
