Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while now, and you know who’s always had some seriously cool ink? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. That guy’s tattoos are legendary! I mean, he’s got that massive tribal piece on his left arm, shoulder, and chest, and then there’s that bull on his right arm. I decided to focus on the bull ’cause it looked a bit simpler to start with.
First, I spent hours just staring at pictures of The Rock’s bull tattoo online. I wanted to really understand it, you know? Turns out, it’s not just any bull. It’s a Taurus bull because that’s his zodiac sign. Makes sense, right? He’s a Taurus, so he’s got a bull tattoo. I learned he had the original bull tattoo updated and improved after 22 hours!
So, after all that research, I started sketching. I grabbed my sketch pad and pencils and just started drawing bulls. Big bulls, small bulls, angry bulls, you name it. My early attempts were, uh, let’s just say they were not exactly tattoo-worthy. My girlfriend said the first one looked like a “confused cow.” Gotta love her honesty, I guess.
But I didn’t give up. I kept practicing, kept studying pictures of The Rock’s tattoo, and even looked at other bull tattoo designs for inspiration. I started getting a feel for the lines, the shading, the way the muscles should look.
Getting Down to Business
Once I had a sketch I was kinda sorta happy with, I decided to take it to a tattoo artist. I found this guy, Mike, who’s known for his realistic work. I showed him my sketch, and we talked about what I wanted. He made some suggestions, tweaked the design a bit, and made it way cooler than my original. I guess that’s why he’s the professional, huh?
- Consultation: Showed sketch to Mike, discussed design.
- Design Refinement: Mike improved my initial sketch.
- Placement Decision: Right bicep, just like The Rock.
Then came the big day. Sitting in that chair, feeling the needle for the first time, it was definitely a rush. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, pain-wise. It was more like a persistent scratching sensation. We took a couple of breaks, and Mike kept checking in to make sure I was doing okay. It was 25 hours so far with my brother @yomicoart in my basement. He is a hyper-realistic specialist.
Finally, after what felt like forever, it was done. I looked in the mirror, and there it was, my very own bull tattoo. It’s not exactly like The Rock’s, but it’s got that same kind of vibe, that same kind of energy. It felt awesome!
It’s still healing now, so I’m following all the aftercare instructions religiously. Gotta keep it clean, moisturized, and protected from the sun. It’s a bit itchy, but I’m resisting the urge to scratch. I can’t wait for it to be fully healed so I can show it off properly!
So, that’s the story of my Dwayne Johnson-inspired bull tattoo. It was a journey, but totally worth it. I learned a lot about design, about tattoos, and about my own pain tolerance! Maybe one day I’ll go for the full tribal piece, but for now, I’m super happy with my bull.
