Okay, so today I got curious about this guy, Anthony McFarland Jr. I didn’t know who he was, so I started digging around to find out more about him.
First, I hit up the usual spots. You know, just doing a quick search to see what pops up. And it looks like he’s a football player, a running back to be specific. It seems he had a great game once against Ohio State in 2018. But, beyond that, there wasn’t much to find online.
So, I started looking deeper. It appears he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a while. That’s interesting, a big-name team. I guess he was with the Steelers for about three seasons, but he didn’t play much. They put him on the practice squad, and eventually, he got released in August 2023.
I tried to find out where he is now. I started looking at other team rosters and recent news articles. Eventually, I found out he signed with the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas this January. That’s a new league, so it’s kind of a fresh start for him, I guess. I mean, it looks like this is a way for him to make his name and continue playing professionally.
My thoughts on this
- First, it’s tough to make it in the NFL, that’s clear. It seems like he was a pretty good college player.
- Second, it’s cool that he’s getting another shot in the UFL. Hopefully, he can have a breakout season in the UFL. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how he does with the Brahmas.
- Finally, I can’t find any personal information about him. It is so weird.
This whole search has me thinking. It’s pretty wild how quickly things can change in professional sports. One day you’re a star in college, and the next, you’re fighting to stay in the game. This Anthony McFarland Jr. story has been a good reminder to appreciate the journey and not just the destination. I’ll probably check in on him later to see how he’s doing in the UFL. It’s always interesting to see how these stories unfold.
That’s it for now. It was a fun little research project. I learned a bit about football, new leagues, and the ups and downs of a professional athlete’s life. Time to move on to the next curiosity!
