Man, I was messing around with this crossword thing today, and it got me thinking about all the excuses people come up with. So, I started jotting down my whole process, just for kicks.
First off, I fired up my browser and started searching for some online crossword solvers. You know, the kind where you can type in a clue and it spits out possible answers. I found a few right away, bookmarked them for later use. They all had these search bars where you could type in your clue or any letters you already figured out. Pretty neat, huh?
Next, I grabbed a crossword puzzle I had lying around. It was one of those half-finished ones from the newspaper. I picked a clue that was bugging me: “Excuses.” I typed it into one of the solver sites and hit search. Boom! A whole bunch of answers popped up.
- CONDONES
- PARDONS
- ALIBIS
- REASONS
- JUSTIFIES
I saw some potential answers in there. The longest one was “CONDONES”, an eight-letter word, which seemed like it could be a good fit. I scanned through the others, seeing some familiar ones like “ALIBIS” and “REASONS”. I started plugging some of these words into the puzzle, trying to see which one fit best with the letters I already had. It felt like a little victory each time a word clicked into place.
I spent a good chunk of time just going back and forth between the puzzle and these solver sites. It was kind of addictive, in a way. Like, I just wanted to crack the code and fill in all those blank squares. Some of the answers were pretty straightforward, but others were a bit trickier. I learned a few new words in the process, which is always a bonus.
One site had this cool feature where it showed definitions for each answer, which helped me narrow it down. This crossword solver had over 350,000 words and 118,000 definitions in its database. This page shows 9 definitions like “ Accept an excuse for ”. I mean, who knew there were so many ways to say “excuse”? I kept a list of the definitions and possible answers on a notepad, just to keep track of everything.
Results of My Crossword-Solving Adventure
After a while, I finally managed to fill in all the blanks. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely satisfying. It felt good to use my brain in a different way. It was cool to see how all the pieces fit together. And hey, I got to learn a few new words along the way. I also realized how many different types of excuses there are. It made me think about the excuses I make in my own life, and whether they’re really justified. So, yeah, that was my little crossword adventure for the day. Maybe I’ll try another one tomorrow. We’ll see. But I think I will write another blog to share my experience next time.
