Okay, so today I was watching the news, and guess what came up? This guy, J.J. McCarthy, got drafted into the NFL. Number 10 pick, going to the Minnesota Vikings! I was like, “Whoa, that’s big!” I mean, this dude is only 21 and he is the starting quarterback for Minnesota now. This whole thing got me curious, so I started digging around.
First, I just typed his name, J.J. McCarthy, into Google. The first few things that popped up were about him being a junior at the University of Michigan. Apparently, he’s a big deal there – 6’3″, over 200 pounds. The number 2 Michigan at Michigan state. That’s all I knew about him before today.
Then, I scrolled down a bit and found some articles about his early days. It seems like he had a private coach named Greg Holcomb way back when. This Holcomb guy was even quoted talking about McCarthy’s throwing style. Sounds like he really helped shape him into the player he is today. I watched a few videos of this coach talking, just to get a feel for the guy.
- Then I got into his family.
- Turns out, his parents, Megan and Jim, were athletes too.
- No wonder the kid’s good at sports!
- It seems like his dad, Jim, was a big influence on him.
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just reading and watching everything I could find about J.J. McCarthy. It’s crazy how much you can learn just by following a little bit of curiosity. From his college career to his family background, it all painted a picture of a dedicated and talented young athlete. His dad must be really proud of him, especially watching his son get drafted into the NFL and becoming the starting quarterback.
So, yeah, that’s how I spent my day – deep-diving into the life of a football player I’d barely heard of before. I’m glad I did it, I enjoyed it and it is fun. But I got to go now, got to have dinner. Maybe I will dig up more info about Mike McCarthy later. I mean, who does not love a proud father, right?
