Okay, so I was trying to figure out this “weighing more” thing from the NYT crossword puzzle today. First, I gotta say, I’m not exactly a crossword whiz, but I do enjoy the challenge every now and then. So, I saw this clue, “weighing more,” and my brain just went blank. Nothing. Nada. I stared at it for a good few minutes, even tried to fill in some other words around it hoping something would click. No dice.
Then I started going through words in my head that had anything to do with weight. You know, like “heavier,” “bigger,” “larger”… nothing seemed to fit right. I even got out a pen and paper, tried writing down some letters, hoping that would spark something. Still nothing. It was driving me nuts!
After what felt like an hour (probably more like 10 minutes, but hey, time flies when you’re stuck), I decided to look at the clue from a different angle. I started thinking about what it means to “weigh more.” It’s not just about the object itself being heavy, it’s about the comparison, right? It’s heavier than something else. That’s when it hit me.
- OUTWEIGH
- HEAVIER
- LARGER
I quickly typed “OUTWEIGH” into the puzzle, and bam, it fit perfectly! All the letters lined up with the other words I had already filled in. It was such a relief, I felt like I had just solved the biggest mystery in the world.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with today’s crossword. It may not seem like a big deal, but for me, it was a nice little victory. Plus, it was a good reminder that sometimes you just gotta look at things from a different perspective to find the answer. And, of course, never underestimate the power of a good old-fashioned brainstorming session, even if it’s just with yourself and a blank piece of paper.
