Okay, so, today I’m gonna tell you guys about my experience with the Speedy Spaniard 2024. Let me tell you, it was a real doozy. I woke up bright and early, feeling all pumped up and ready to go. I stretched a bit, you know, the usual pre-run routine, nothing fancy. I put on my running shoes, the ones that have seen better days, but they’re my lucky pair, so they had to come along.
I got to the starting line and it was packed. People everywhere, all these runners buzzing with energy. I saw some serious-looking folks, the ones who look like they run marathons for breakfast, and then there were people like me, just hoping to finish without collapsing. Anyway, the race started and off we went. I started at a decent pace, not too fast, not too slow. I just wanted to, like, enjoy the run and take it all in, you know?
The route was, well, it was something. It was a 10K, and let me tell you, those kilometers felt long. There were some parts where I was running along the river, which was pretty nice, scenic and all that. I even saw some ducks, which was cool. But then there were these hills. Man, those hills were brutal. My legs were burning, and I was huffing and puffing like an old steam engine. I thought of giving up when I looked around and saw everyone having a hard time, but I thought, well I’ll finish this at least, I haven’t done it in vain. I kept pushing, one foot in front of the other, trying to keep a steady rhythm.
- First 5K went by in a blur.
- Around the 7K mark, I hit a wall.
- The last 3K felt like an eternity, but I was determined.
And then, finally, I saw it – the finish line. It was like a beacon of hope, shining in the distance. I mustered up whatever energy I had left and sprinted, or at least, what felt like a sprint to my tired legs. I crossed the line, and it was the best feeling ever. I was exhausted, my legs were like jelly, and I was pretty sure I looked like a hot mess, but I did it. I actually finished the Speedy Spaniard 10K.
After catching my breath and downing a whole bottle of water, I felt a sense of accomplishment. It wasn’t about the time or the place, but just about finishing the race. It was tough, no doubt, but totally worth it. I proved to myself that I could do it, and that’s all that matters. Plus, I got a cool medal, which is always a bonus. So yeah, that’s my Speedy Spaniard 2024 story. It was a wild ride, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Well, maybe after my legs recover, that is.
My conclusion
It is such an unforgettable experience, although my legs hurt, I enjoyed myself and I think I will do it again next year.
