So, I’ve been digging into this whole “tyranitar counter” thing in Pokemon Go lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I started off thinking, “How hard can it be to take down this big guy?” Turns out, it’s a bit more involved than I initially thought.
My first move was to jump straight into battles. I figured I’d learn on the go, right? Well, I quickly found out that Tyranitar is a tough cookie, especially with its Rock and Dark-type combo. I threw a bunch of my best Pokemon at it, and let’s just say it didn’t go as planned. I mean, I got some hits in, but my team was getting wiped out faster than I could say “Hyper Beam.”
That’s when I realized I needed a strategy. I started doing some digging, reading up on what the pros recommend. I found out that Tyranitar is especially weak against Fighting-type moves. It’s also not a big fan of Bug, Fairy, Grass, Ground, Steel, and Water-type moves, but Fighting is where it’s at. That makes sense, I guess – all those muscles and no armor.
So, I went back to my Pokemon collection and started looking for fighters. I had a few decent ones, but nothing that really stood out. I had a Machamp that I’d been powering up, but it wasn’t quite ready for the big leagues. I also had a pretty strong Vaporeon, thinking its Water-type moves would do the trick, but it turns out that while useful, it wasn’t the best option.
Then, after a bit more research, I stumbled upon some real gems. Apparently, Mega Lucario and Mega Blaziken are total beasts against Tyranitar. Shadow Conkeldurr, Terrakion, and Mega Heracross are also top-tier counters. I had some of these in my collection but wasn’t sure if the ones in my collection had the best attack movesets, but I didn’t have a Lucario, so that was a bummer. I got excited and started powering up the ones I did have, though.
Armed with my newly trained team, I went back for another round with Tyranitar. This time, things were different. My Fighting-types were landing some serious blows, and Tyranitar was actually taking damage. I used Mega Blaziken and Terrakion, and they were crushing it! Their Fighting moves were super effective, and I could see Tyranitar’s health bar dropping way faster than before. I used to get so many faints, but now they’re way down. It was awesome!
I still got hit a few times, and some of my Pokemon did faint, but overall, it was a much better fight. I even managed to take down a few Tyranitars in raids, which felt amazing. I can tell you that the damage output was insane from Mega Blaziken. It’s so satisfying to see those “Super Effective” messages popping up, and I have started using it with all sorts of other Pokemon because it’s just that good.
My Learnings:
- Fighting is key: Seriously, if you’re going up against Tyranitar, bring your best Fighting-types.
- Mega Evolutions are game-changers: Mega Lucario and Mega Blaziken are absolute monsters. If you have them, use them.
- Shadows are strong: Shadow Conkeldurr is a beast, so if you’ve got a good one, power it up.
- Don’t sleep on Terrakion: I don’t know why I did, but I did. This thing hits hard and is a great counter.
- It takes trial and error: Don’t get discouraged if your first few attempts don’t go well. Keep experimenting with different Pokemon and movesets.
So yeah, that’s my Tyranitar counter journey so far. It’s been a fun challenge, and I’m still learning and improving my strategy. I’m hoping to get my hands on a Lucario soon so I can get that Mega Evolution, but for now, I’m pretty happy with my progress. If you’re struggling with Tyranitar, give these tips a try. You might be surprised at how much of a difference they make!
